I've totally changed my opinion of him on that one statement - #OUTSo according to today's press conference. We have fantastic forwards and could not find any better in the current market...?
he's 22 and been in the prem a few months. give him some time. he's looked lively and has 3 goals in 12 games.I'm amazed at the way people are rating Bergwijn these days . I don't understand on what basis other than the goal vs Utd ,this is happening . Good squad player , yes but...

NDombele and LoCelso are supposed to fix that problem. The problem is the midfield and more specifically the lack of a defensive midfielder who can link the play.
Put Dembele back in this team and half the problems go away. Put back Eriksen and we are good again.
No, but then Jose alluded to the fact things would be different here from the get go in terms of funds available so I don't necessarily think that's a fair point to be made here.Jose's idea of a rebuild is to spend 100 million in 3 straight transfer windows. Thats never going to happen at Spurs.

yeah he said that but other than Porto he's never done more with less before, and that was almost 20 years ago. its just not his MO.No, but then Jose alluded to the fact things would be different here from the get go in terms of funds available so I don't necessarily think that's a fair point to be made here.
Without a full summer transfer window it's difficult to assess whether this will pan out to be true or not but got to take it from face value that Jose has come into this with his eyes open in what Levy will ultimately provide him with.

well LoCelso wasnt fit for most of the fall and NDombele has struggled to adapt. Im still hopeful he'll come good.Ndombele & Lo Celso would fix that problem.
By my count they've only started 4 games together all season... Red Star away, Sheffield at home, Norwich away, Chelsea away.
I am also hopeful he will come good...not every young player comes in and sets the world on fire first season. Can be hard to adapt, settle and handle being club record signing. NDombele is quality and I still have high hopes for him unless Jose bins him of course which I would not put past him.well LoCelso wasnt fit for most of the fall and NDombele has struggled to adapt. There are discussions going on about the 7 or 8 teams that qualify for Europe won't have to play in the league cup next season, so it makes sense now JM has a plan, don't qualify for Europe and win the league cup. Trophy won job done ?
And yet Jose isn’t the one saying that the squad are crap. All he has said thus far is that he would like to do business in the market but he fully understands the situation."The players arent good enough" argument is just bollocks.
Yes we have weaknesses, but Son Heung Min is probably one of the most coveted wide forwards in world football, Harry Kane has over 130 league goals, Dele Alli has 50+, Lamela and Lo Celso are Argentina internationals, Bergwijn is an exciting, talented, pacey young player, and Ndombele was seen as a massive coup when we signed him. Toby is also by no means done at this level and has been one of the best CBs in the league over the past few years, and on his day Lloris is still an excellent keeper (see yesterday).
Even most the players that we slag off are solid mid-table players at worst. There's definitely a lot of mediocrity in the squad, especially in the back 5 + Sissoko, but someone like Lucas would be the best player at most bottom half clubs, and Sanchez, Davies, Dier, Aurier, while clearly not top top players are by no means utter dross. Even our fringe players like Sessegnon, Skipp, Gedson, have bags of potential if used correctly.
We should be doing SO much better than we are. We're a mile off the best teams in the league, but some of you seem to be drinking the Mourinho Kool Aid and seem convinced that our entire squad is trash.
It just isn't.
And even when he's done that his clubs have imploded after 2 and a bit seasons. What hope do we have?
The strange thing is most of our good players are at the top end of the pitch, so you'd think we'd be banging them in and shipping just as many at the other end. But it's the opposite."The players arent good enough" argument is just bollocks.

I've said this exact thing in other threads. Par for this squad should be around 5th or 6th in the league, and then with a couple of choice additions we could be pushing for the CL places. The strange thing is most of our good players are at the top end of the pitch, so you'd think we'd be banging them in and shipping just as many at the other end. But it's the opposite.
As i've been saying it's true that we've got glaring weaknesses primarily from CM backwards, but these are not mid table players. On balance, our squad should be finishing at least 6th imo.
I think there is also that possibility that this is just a mental issue now, meaning a new coach wouldn't be able to get the best out of them either. It might just be that most of them are exhausted at Spurs and just want a change of scenery.
Regardless, there's no excuse for last night with the attacking talent at Mourinho's disposal. If you are excusing it then you're simply deluded. I don't even care if you say it's a work in progress, not to have a single shot on target against a prospective Championship team is nothing short of an embarrassment.
Jesus, how many people forget Dembele was broken by the end? He couldn't last a half.
