To be honest the best thing for him he's not anywhere near good enough for us yet, and he may never be until he finds his inner aggression and wants to be the player he can become.

Hopefully the hype will die down on him and we forget about him a bit to let him find himself

If it is a loan, its a shame we couldn't have done a bit of business with Chris Hughton to get him in the midfield with Brighton, to see how he fares playing regular games in the Premier League.

I was really hoping he was going to be given more time with us this season - I see a lot of quality in Josh.

But if this helps him hit the next level then so be it.

Good move for him, he needs games, we saw a flash in the U20's WC of what hes capable of - go dominate the Championship and come back next season ready to challenge for a first team place. Just try not to talk to John Terry too much...................and if he asks where you live, walk away

I guess the Grealish injury had made Bruce go for Josh. I wonder what was planned for him before they came in.

Happy with this. As long as he's definitely going to played in CM and not in attacking areas or out wide then I'm all for it.

The kid needs to build his confidence after a great summer with England and sitting on our bench is not the way to do that.

Villa are full of centre midfielders.

Jedinak, hourihane, lansbury, whelan

Gonna be on the bench a lot or out wide

Not a good choice of team imo. Brentford would have been a better champ loan

Would it be too simple to say that if he can't wiggle himself in front of journeymen like Whelan and Jedinak, then he probably wouldn't be of much use for a top PL side? A sink or swim kinda thing? He's got the edge on all of those blokes in terms of pure talent (maybe bar Lansbury), but if he can perform a tactically responsible role in the middle of the park in a Villa gunning for promotion, then it would speak volumes.

It's hard to believe he's still only 20 considering how long he's been around the first team. Him leaving doesn't really make any difference to the squad depth. He was never really any kind of real backup option, Poch was just trying to give him time on the pitch hence playing him more advanced with no responsibility. According to transfer market he only played 270 minutes last year. If we sign Barkley that would more than make up for Onomah's minutes and will give him a chance to go away and actually play some games.

He's good enough to oust any of those clowns

Kane didn't get himself in front of Wood and Nugent at Leicester...

I'd be surprised if we let him go without having another midfielder to come in. Whilst Onomah didn't get much game time last season, he was in and around the squad so we look a bit short on options if a couple of midfielders get injured.

not in pochs plans then

He's not good enough to be part of our 1st team squad this season, especially with Poch persisting with playing him out wide where he's absolutely useless and wasted. He needs regular games in central midfield and to show Poch he can be relied upon in such a demanding position. He's a little like Carroll in the sense that he lacks the aggression to be trusted in central midfield. However unlike Carroll he has the required physical attributes to be an all round central midfielder.
