I don`t see why we would bring Jota I don`t see him making an impact in the premier league. There are better quality options out there that we have been linked with...
I think a lot comes down to Ange. He knows the player and he has to take the responsibility to say yes or no to this.

We have injuries and a weak squad so if a half season loan is available, it could be worth looking into.

Sorry if it’s been asked loads or if no one really knows but why hasn’t he played for his new club?
They weren’t able to register him because they ran out of non HG spots. The rules are changing from summer tho plus if they unregistered someone now that would free up a spot.

Wasn't registered as they had too many foreign players, they can only have so many and he seemed to be the one to miss out.

Also Ange knows the player and player knows Ange, so should fit in with training, tactics etc straight away
Personally think this is a no risk deal to do

It reminds me some of the deals Redknapp was fond of doing like Krancjar. A case of the coach knowing and trusting the player to do a job for the team, even if it’s not the most spectacular deal.

Could we not say this about many signings that are made each window? Nobody really ever knows what will happen until it does.

Players can come in with a massive profile and not really do much.. Shevchenko scored 9 in 48, which is about the same as Carlos Vinicius in the PL. I remember many fans were angry that we signed Vicario over Raya, a fair amount voiced their displeasure over Van De Ven being signed instead of Tapsoba. Sometimes we just have to sit back and see how it pans out. Sure, some will fail and there would have been better options but other times we will hit gold.

Have no in-depth knowledge of Jota but what I’ve seen of him he’s stronger on the ball than Gil; knows the Ange system; and could be a loan/free etc. If Ange is keen - obligatory - then I am too… ok, I appreciate I’ve only watched three to four YouTube videos but there’s a fair number of pluses if we can’t get a n other in midfield

You’ve watched 4, which makes you an expert. Most, like me, watch one. So, I put my faith in u and Ange. 😂

If we do get him be interesting to see how it affects Solomon and what happens to Son. Solomon doesn’t look good at all on the RW. I wonder if Son would go back to CF or we would continue with Richy.

How many times did he play there this year? I don’t get how anyone could make that assumption based on the very very few appearances he’s made for Spurs.

If he comes in on a loan until season end then what's the risk?

Kulu and Bentancur were both unproven in the PL when they came in January?

Levy won't be buying "better quality options" in January to play up front that is quite obvious and if he was to in January who do you see as those "better quality options" that other teams would sell to us in January?

Agree. You would want someone to hit the ground running and you think this would make sense.

Jota has 60 G/A in 79 matches at LW
Has 24 G/A in 40 matches at RW

So it does seem he could contribute from either side. Even if it's only for 6 months then reassess in summer I'd be OK with it.

If Solomon returns this year - im not aware of his injury status? I too thought about that as Jota seems to operate best in Son’s current position. Although, it’s a headache that is a pleasant one to have. I think I read you’re not particularly ‘sold on him’? Or was that Conor?

Im not. I’ve seen him play there for Shaktar a few times in the Europa league and he wasn’t particularly convincing. You could tell it wasn’t his natural position. Plus he’s said himself in the past he’s more comfortable on the left. He might be able to play on the right but he is a left inside forward.

For me - when everyone is healthy and available:

Son - Jota - Solomon

Richie - Son - (Veliz whenever he gets back)

Deki - Johnson - Jota

Jota played on both the right and left for Celtic - though prefers the left, I think.

I think Johnson is our best RW - in terms of his ability to get to the byline and put in a good cross - but Deki is the better footballer, and will play ahead of Johnson. Deki could also slot in for Maddison on occasion, opening up a spot for Johnson.

I think Richie is rounding into form, and providing the kind of presence that Ange wants from that position - so I don't think he would lose his status as the presumed starter, though we have the flexibility to move Son into that role - either as a starter, of just an in-game adjustment.

Tbh I’m at a point with Jota especially and Conor that if Ange wants them then any concerns I’ll happily put aside. Nobody will know Jota as well as Ange so if he thinks he will add something to the team than fantastic. I’ll be very happy to bring him in.

My point wasnt a negative one I’m just genuinely curious about the dynamics. Ange said himself that Solomon was only just starting to get his tactics when he got injured so we have no idea what he will be able to bring to the table. From what I’ve seen in the past from both players it actually strikes me as there is some cross over in style.

There is talk in the Solomon thread that he might even be back for Friday, not sure how accurate that info is but the timing couldn’t be better really.

I didn’t read your post in the negative btw. Yea. Interesting on the dynamics. Difficult - pleasantly - to pin down Ange on dynamics. But the lovely thing is I don’t fret as I know he’s on it - unlike previous appointments, despite their prior records.
