He will got to super rich club for 1) they'll pay both Chelski and Mata more 2) Chelksi won't sell to Spurs 3) Spurs are not in desperate need for such a player right now (though I won't mind him at WHL).

We are always in need of players of Mata's calibre. Chances of actually getting a deal off the ground are virtually non-existent, but we should definitely at least give it a go.

Imagine an attacking trio of Lamela-Eriksen-Mata.

Let's hope Chelski continue to not score goals. Maybe we can swap Ade plus loads of money...but I agree the chances of them doing business with us are slim to none

Chelsea will never do business with us no matter what we offer, never gonna happen whilst Mata is their player, would love it to happen though!

I'm incline to agree, I just can't see them selling Mata to us.

I know they sold Gallas to Arsenal - but that was part of a deal that saw them signing Cole

Also not sure Mata would choose us if he were to leave ahead of the other potential suitors he'd likely attract

Like you I'd love it to happen but also can't see it

Left out of their squad today, crazy from Jose. Yeah they've done business with Arsenal since Gallas too, Benayoun loan I think, just too much bad blood between Spurs and Chelsea ever since the Arneson fiasco.

Immense player, he would walk into our team. Unfortunately given there will most likely be interest from top, top clubs, huge wage demands and an unrealistic transfer fee, I would be gobsmacked if we ever get him. We also have the Tottenham Hotspur dealing with Chelsea problem too.

A nice thought though..

So long as Mata doesn't go to any other EPL team, this situation only benefits us. Mourinho is a fucking clown.

He had a very good relationship with Bobby Soldado at Valencia which could prove a big plus, but trying to get Chavs to do a deal is a tough one, but if he isn't getting much playing time come Jan he'll no doubt be pushing hard for a move

It's all been said above, but if Chelsea are willing to splash £30m on a player they hardly need with, IMO, one eye on spiting us, then they sure as hell won't sell one of the best players of the last three seasons to us.

Who knows what's going on between Mata and Mourinho, but I think it's fair to say that only an idiot wouldn't recognise Mata's qualities and what he could bring to Spurs.

Furthermore, while he's a fantastic player, could we afford to spend another £40m (because that's probably what it would take) on that sort of player? He's only 25, but would we see that back? Doubtful, as you could see him staying for three or so years. Finally, we almost need his right footed, mirror image IMO.

He's a wonderful player that of course we should be interested in, but for a host of reasons I don't see it happening.

I think Mata is fantastic but I find it about as likely as me getting a blowjob from Jennifer Lawrence.

But, I would happily take Remy Cabella as that versatile attacking midfielder. Young (23), versatile, great with both feet, good enough pace to play out wide and he's got an eye for the pass. Very reminiscent to Mata in my opinion.

with the FFP coming into play and looking at the amount of money Chavs have been spending, they may very well need to sell before they splash out again
