The club want to sign at least one central defender and have included Sevilla’s Jules Koundé among their targets. The 22-year-old, part of France’s Euro 2020 squad, is expected to be sold for less than his €80m (£69m) release clause. Joachim Andersen, who spent last season on loan at Fulham from Lyon, is also on Tottenham’s list.

Kounde would be an unbelievable signing- anybody think we would actually spend that kind of money on one player this summer or that we have a real chance at him?

Kane said that he thinks we might be a couple of players away from challenging. Koundé is a player of that silk. I’d love us to pay up for him.

Kounde would be fantastic but not really sure how we'd be able to get him, both in terms of competition and potential financials. There was some rumours of Seville being interested in Dav so perhaps something in the offing there.

It wouldnt shock me.

There is a good sell on value. Similar to the big money deals we did for Ndombele and Sanchez really.

Great talent, but we are never gonna spend that kind of money on a single player this summer.

N'Dombele happened off the back of the UCL Final. We were a club going places that players wanted to come to. Now....

Pay them enough and a lot of players will go anywhere

Within reason - I think if it's clear that the club is on an upward trajectory, then they'll buy into it.

Take the case of City when we beat them to 4th about a decade (or more) ago - everyone knew that they had a long term project, and that they would splash a load of cash. As a consequence, not being in the Champs League didn't stop them getting good players.

Sadly, we have no money, no manager, no plan, and no prospect of breaking into a top 4, all of who can claim they have all those things - there are even teams outside the top 4 who can claim to be better on pretty much all those measures.

So the likelihood of getting anyone of quality is very limited. Our best chance is offering game time to good young players and being patient...but even that supposes we hire a credible manager

I've already had it confirmed to me by someone who has a mandate to sell Kounde in England that there is "absolutely no chance" of us signing him. Would love to be proved wrong.
