Kane is not for sale - Pochettino

No money in the world can take Harry Kane away from White Hart Lane, according to Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino insists star striker Harry Kane is not for sale at any price.

Kane scored his 10th and 11th goal of the season in Saturday's 3-0 win over Norwich City and became the first Tottenham player to score 27 goals or more in a calendar year.

His form saw him called-up for the England national team, scoring 79 seconds into his international debut against Lithuania.

Despite going six league games without a goal at the start of the 2015-16 season, Kane has hit back and sits just four goals behind top-scorer Jamie Vardy.

The 22-year-old has attracted interest from bigger clubs in recent times, but Pochettino says no-one can pry him away from White Hart Lane no matter what the price.

"There is no price. No-one can buy him," Pochettino said.

"He is not for sale. There is not a value because it is impossible to put a price."

Tottenham moved inside the top-four with the win over Norwich and will be looking to consolidate their spot when they face Watford on Monday. http://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/kane-not-sale-pochettino#:I3QFQfFubA_G6A

Thanks for putting it out there Poch. Now sign the lad up for a 100K a week. On his current form he makes Ade look like a cart horse and that loser was pulling the same wages from us. Plus he has crossed the great divide. He is no one season wonder. He is the genuine article. And he is actually a pretty fucking awesome CF.

On the 'What our oppenents are saying' thread, a Manure fan I think was arguing they had to go all out for him and Poch. He was even saying Kane was the next Galactico. In the over hyped world of football with its flavor of the month media assessments of players, its probably not far off the truth. I am sure Kane is being looked at by a few of the top six at the moment with increasing interest. Its not a long way from Chingford to Madrid these days. The dearth of talent in terms of strikers internationally is going to make this lad hot property very very soon.

All true, but we have no reason to sell to United. Unless Kane starts pushing for a move to another Prem club (which seems unlikely), or if Barca or Madrid come knocking (which also seems unlikely) we represent a pretty great option to stick with.

For whatever reason, I just don't see him wanting to leave in the near future. With the new stadium on the horizon, I can see him being highly motivated to stay for a few more seasons anyway.

Agree. I think holding on to this current sqad while improving incrementally where we need to is the key. Use the money on wages instead. However that wont stop the big boys sniffing around or the media campaigns from certain parts of the press who think playinf for Manure is the pinnacle of English football. I can remember the days when Manure were not that great and Spurs were a bigger club. Times have changed.

Whats with the WTF rating @Borks? You dont think Ade was a carthorse? Well he was for the all of the time he was not, shall we say, 'motivated'. Which was most of the time.:D

I find it hard to read shit about Adebayor's form when I look at his stats compared to Soldado and we took a £16m(?) loss in the end. I do agree with you that Kane is an awesome CF though, he has the whole package and it is crazy to think about how he was not expected to make it by the majority 18 months ago.

i think the loss was less than that. A lot of Soldado's contractual value was based on incremental achievments around goals, assists and performance and appearence criteria that was not met.

Been there on more than one occasion as i recall. Levy has the final say irrespective of what any Spurs manager says.

But Bale didnt leave until a couple of years after that article and after Redknapp had left.

I get your point though. A big enough bid and anyone is for sale. Lets hope Harry wants to stay and we start winning trophies so he sees no need to leave in a couple of years.

I just wanted to show that a managers headline that a player won't be sold is futile. First that decision is down to the player and agent, then the Chairman and finally the manager.

Would anyone expect a manager to say anything different?

It's actually a confluence of things which lead us to sell a player we'd prefer not to. We will sell only if:

  1. The transfer fee is high enough, which means if there's a notional open market valuation of a player it is exceeded by several degrees. And,
  2. The player goes on strike. And,
  3. It doesn't strengthen a direct rival.
Apply those rules to any reluctant transfer we've agreed to in recent years and you'll see they work.

Also despite denting our ambitions the Bale deal still looks like a cracker from Levy has has not managed to recapture the form he had with us at all. Berbatov and Keane never looked as deadly at Utd and Liverpool. Probably only Modric and Carrick have really go on to improve after leaving despite a few adding some medals to their cabinets

Poch has only a minor say. That lay with Kane, his agent and market forces.

However, I donk think Harry is the edging for a move type. Not for a while yet at least. Plus providing we don't slip down the table they will all want to experience the new stadium as it get closer to happening.

Bale, Carrick, Berbatov and Modric were all 'not for sale'. That soon changes when the player threatens to run down their contract, goes on strike or we are offered a world record fee.

I definitely think we will get a few more seasons out of Kane but if he eventually decides to leave I have no doubt he will be sold. Unless we can offer the same wages and opportunities to win trophies as Madrid/city/Barcelona/ we will always lose are best players.

I think you can tell a lot about a footballer by looking at their WAG. Kane could have traded up but he's stuck with his childhood sweetheart, so I don't see him having any desire to seek pastures new for a quite a while, especially if we remain competitive and give him a decent contract that matches his performances.
