Tottenham have to do a “bit of juggling” with their finances due to a “growing phenomenon” that means they owe £252million in transfer payments.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about Tottenham’s owed transfer payments and how it could affect the club moving forward.

Surely this is spread over around five years?

“Buying players on credit is a growing phenomenon in the Premier League,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

“I would estimate that overall Premier League clubs will owe more than £2billion when we finally start to see the accounts next year.

“The 2022 figures indicated the figure of owed payments was around about 1.86 billion.

“Since then, clubs have clearly had a very active window in the summer of 2022.

“From a cash flow point of view, it does mean that Spurs might have to do a bit of juggling.

“We’ve already seen that take place since the closure of the Premier League window, with players being offloaded to Turkey and other markets where the window is still open.

“So I don’t see it as being prohibitive having this substantial amount of transfer fees outstanding.

“It’s just part of the business.

“For all of the faults that the club has made on the pitch, off the pitch they are a very, very slick machine.“

I mentioned this earlier this year as to why I thought we wouldnt spend much this summer. Turns out I was wrong. It is obviously something clubs tend not to worry too much about.

TL;DR

Spurs owe money for players, but it’s normal and not a problem.

Maguire trying to be relevant as usual

Arsenal were quoted at £150 mill and that was without the last two seasons of lavish spends to be reconciled in their accounts

Surely most teams are also owed money in transfers too so it's hardly a clean 252m debt or whatever, it's just cashflow. You can also use the debts to offset profits and owe less in tax surely?

New figures have shown that MILLIONS of Brits still owe hundreds of thousands for their homes, and when added up the total amount owed is eye-watering.

Experts claim however that mortgages have been fairly common for many years and this isn't really something to worry about.

A random person made an unfounded statement about our financial situation without reviewing our financial records.

This is the level of sports journalism we are at now. :ROFLMAO:

So we have outgoing financial commitments for the next 5 years.

We do a poor job of generating incoming financial through the same means (Kane aside).

In an alternate universe we sold Dele, Eriksen and Dier at their heights for 200 million. And in that universe supporters are raging for being a selling club 😂

We actually don't have much. Ithink we have the second highest net transfer debt in the league. Or we did before Chelsea went mental
