Former Germany player and boss Jurgen Klinsmann has been sacked as coach of the United States.

The 52-year-old, who won the World Cup as a player with Germany in 1990, took over as US boss in 2011.

"We remain confident we have quality players to help us advance to Russia 2018," said US Soccer president Sunil Gulati.

"But the form and growth of the team up to this point left us convinced that we need to go in a different direction."

I am very happy about this, but I am not thrilled about his rumored replacement.

I see US Soccer have attempted to bury this news while the world is engrossed in the West Brom-Burnley match.

Is that you, Rog?

Right decision to sack him but replacing him with a xenophobe when your only good players are dual nationals is a bit baffling. About 10 steps back. But thats what you get when MLS runs USSF. Am I done with US Soccer? Very close to it. Very close.

Also means CCV is likely to go England now. No chance in hell Bruce Arena even knows he exists.

Edit: Hey @yankspurs Learn to type, you idiot

Couldn't agree more. It's baffling that we are even considering bringing Arena back.

Gives CCV that perfect excuse to make the switch to England now. Comes across as a polite and respectful kid who wouldn't want disappoint Klinsmann because of the faith he's shown in him. Doesn't have to worry about that now and he'll probably have made his league debut by the next round of internationals and Southgate can persuade him to make the change.

Steven Gerrard and Beckham not front runners as his replacement? Shocking oversight

Well im fairly convinced the new manager doesnt know he exists and the guy is a big xenophobe so he'll go to England.

Sadly, the plan is to go from Arena to Ramos after 2018 which is about 50 steps back. Ramos has spent his entire coaching career ruining the youth teams he coached. Serial under performer and just a complete joke of a coach. USSF is doing all they can to ruin all the momentum the sport picked up under Klinsmann in this country.

Apparently Bielsa wanted the job and instead we gave it to the xenophobic piece of shit who will take the program back to yester year. Christ I hate MLS' monopoly on this sport in this country. A disgrace to the fans.
