No idea where to put this as there’s a few names. Bild saying we’re looking (with emphasis on looking) at a few from the German league, including Werner.

Werner. Hmmmm.

I think that’s quite unlikely, and that’sbeing optimistic

Less than a week to go & we are still none the wiser as to our chances of securing a Striker this window, as the days tick by it becomes more & more desperate, can see this going down to the very last few hours.

Looking at the chances that have gone begging recently I think a poacher would suit us just fine. We don't have a back-to-goal hold up man currently but it isn't stopping us from carving out chances, and that's with Ndombele sidelined. Personally I think Piatek would be a big step up from playing with Lucas up top.

Would love it but no chance we get Werner. Was my no.1 after Haaland would be perfect for us

Werner is clearly one of those players that is on a permanent list of ours of desired purchases should they become feasible. Son was another that was - we were interested when he left Leverkusen to go to Hamburg and maintained that interest through to when he eventually became feasible again a few years down the line. The condition of the Werner interest will ebb and flow between active to inactive as and when his circumstances change at any given time. Whilst we can question how active that pursuit currently is right now, I do believe that if the situation occurs where he becomes available, then we will at the very least be getting kept abreast of the going’s on and whether or not we would have a chance at him

We missed the boat on Werner. He is now simply too good for us. It’s insane we weren’t backing a dump truck of money up to him any of these last few windows.

He’s going to pick from Liverpool, Bayern, Barca and Madrid this summer.

Look for the last two seasons he has averaged around 13 passes a game. This season Kane gets twenty. But typical target men get around 20-30 passes a match. In the PL Piatek in the bottom 10 strikers for touches made this season based on this season alone. Though would be slightly higher if taking the average (13).

Piatek is strong at scoring goals with his head but isn't all that in terms of winning headers. He has averaged around 2 a game in the last two seasons. This puts him slightly bellow Diego Jota and well bellow Kane's 6.5 headers a game.

His average total tackles in the last two seasons is about 0.5 a game, slightly bellow Kane's 0.6 this season. Both Kane and Piatek would be in around the middle when it comes to tackles by strikers. His interceptions are 0.2, again slightly bellow Kane's 0.3 and around the missle of the PL. His turn over isn't that high.

I mean I think he is a useful player and am very much in support of his signing. However, yes he presses and harries but he is fundamentally a poacher, who's only remarkable stat is his shots per game. He isn't particularly tall or physical, he is a hard working poacher, who can finish with both his feet and with his head. His focus in a game is to get himself into goal scoring positions, so good movement and good finishing are his strengths. But that is about it.

Now, I don't know if he suits us more, because Jose loves the long ball. In a Poch team he would suit much better. But he is currently my first choice. I'm just worried that people are imagining him to be a player he simply isn't.
Interesting to see the numbers for passes, headers etc. Not sure Serie A stats offer good comparison with someone playing in Premier League. Tackles per game for a forward presumably lower in Italy? Same for headers won? Not saying he would necessarily be transformed playing in a different league but you might reasonably expect an improvement on those stats with the different style of play here.

Yeh there is less headers in Serie A and Piatek is 24th highest striker in the league for headers a game. Which is top 3rd instead of around half way. But it still isn't particularly strong. Tackles and interceptions, however, do not show any real difference between the leagues.

Also when looking at passes, in Serie A the strikers make more of them, though this hasn't significantly changed his overall position overall the difference is pretty crazy. In Serie A 19 strikers have an average above 30, in the PL only 4 do.

"New contacts #Milan--#Tottenham for #Piatek. With the exit of #Eriksen Spurs they resumed contact with the Rossoneri for the Polish striker. We have to find the right formula that puts everyone in agreement." [@LucaMarchetti]

Di Marzio:

Tottenham-Milan, new contacts for Piatek

The two companies have re-established contacts for the Polish striker, who finds little space in the Rossoneri
Zero minutes played in the last three league games, for Piatek seems to be no more space in the team of Stefano Pioli . The agent of the Polish striker yesterday met with the Milan managers , to understand and analyze what the future of the former Genoa may be .

Tottenham has returned strongly to him , who has re-established contacts with the Rossoneri in the search for a striker who can replace the injured Kane . Now it will be necessary to understand and decide what the conditions of the transfer will be, considering that Milan has no intention of losing too much money after the investment of a year ago.
