Gets forward well and has the pace to get back.
Often hesitates on the ball for too long
before inaccurately crossing.
Not entirely his fault though
Needs inside support or more players ahead to cross to.
Quick free kick gives the lie to the
'lacks a football brain' accusation.

is that in pentameter??

But good point-- his crosses are often late, so easily dealt with. A fullback like Zabaleta, who doesn't have the pace to get to the goal line, is great at early and accurate crossing.

He crosses with his instep and doesnt get much height. Therefore its easy for a defender to intercept. I think he should cross with the side of the base of his big toe, as bale does.

It's not just his crossing that has been poor, he has definitely dropped a few levels since avb left. Overall he's a good player and there aren't too many better options but concentration, decision making and passing have all declined since ts came in

(this isnt a avb vs tim post btw, just an observation. Kyle is nowhere near the uber high consistency of the early season)

My comments on Sherwood were probably harsh, and it is early days. To be honest I'm fed up of the large amount of barely competent play that we put together and am just impatient for change... We have players that have enough talent to show it in flashes to win games and the poor standard of the league helps us, but we wont get any higher until we have a mentality change and set some higher standards at the club. Is Tim that man, hope so... He talks a good game, but it is still to be seen whether he can walk the walk.

Im with you man, yesterday was one of the most frustrating games i have seen us play in a while. Mainly because, apart from the first 10, neither team offered anything going forward. It was a bitty midfield scrap - 94 collective attempted tackles. (50 for the 44 for us).... thats rather large and goes further to prove that the game itself was scrappy rather than one team really shining.

The game we played them earlier in the year lacked any real spark either and sometimes that happens with 2 teams trying as hard not to lose as they are to win a la' chelsea vs arsenal earlier this year.

Maybe I'm just making excuses though. I dunno. Was a really tough game yesterday.

Surely a great cross would have been one that Ade could reach?

Not really, into no mans land between keeper & CB's with pace, i think that's a great ball and Rose is entitled to think we should be getting on the end of it.
