I personally think he has been poor all pre season and during the start of the season does anybody agree with me?

He seems to very un kyle like sloppy with the ball and making stupid mistakes and getting beat one on one easyily

maybe its time we give naughton a for a game give kyle a rest or a wake up call?

is he not fully fit?

I wonder whether his performances last year have raised the bar of what we expect from him. We have to remember he has only had 1.5 seasons of prem football and he played practically every minute last year!!

He does need to raise his this season but that's the beauty of having a squad and being able to rotate when players fall out of form, which happens to all players!!

Hasnt been at his best but then who has? If we were to drop him then by the same standards you could say the likes of Sandro, Bale and Lennon (and thats just for starters) should be dropped as well.

Yeh totally agree

in a way i think we are suffering from having a very young squad and young players go on a down turn in form at some point for a while before peaking back up again

Would imagine with Defoe coming out and talking of playing a new system, that the younger and more experienced players would struggle more than most.

It seems to me the players are playing within their shell and not pushing their game. Would suggest that they are scared of making mistakes, struggling with understanding what they should be doing or are struggling with confidence at the moment. Maybe a bit of all 3.

Been a pretty poor start for him this season, need to remember that he played well over 40 games last season with next to no rotation - and that was off the back of the u21 European Championship.

I think like everyone else the system just needs to click... too many individuals trying to do things instead of the team...

I'm still not entirely convinced that the Walker/Lennon partnership down the right works all that well. Hopefully Walker will be more comfortable with Dempsey playing in front of him.

Having said that, hardly anyone has played that well so far.

Early days yet, but he does need to improve his defensive reading of the game.

Footballers are no different to the rest of us and we tend to like things kept simple ( As with Redknapp). I imagine AVB is a little more complex and it will take time for some players to understand, adpt and flourish under his instructions. Some may never get to grips with it.

Personally think he's been overrated. I think his pace blinds a lot of people to his actual ability. Technically I don't think he's that good. If you compare him to Corluka for instance, Corluka was a far better footballer with a really strong football brain - in fact his understanding with Lennon was extremely strong. The problem was that he had no pace and regretably was found out too often for this failing. With Walker I find it's the opposite, his pace in many respects helps him recover defensively and hides his other failings. Specifically his poor crossing and one dimensional play. I find that far too frequently he puts his head down and runs with the ball with very little finess. I'm not saying this won't improve with age, but currently I find him to be an extremely one dimensional player, albeit a very quick one.

Again it's the British antiquated footballing mentality of championing pace and strength over footballing technique. As a result we will never improve as a nation until they find a way to marry technique to strength and pace.

I personally think he is just a sprinter a very quick runner. He doesnt pass particularly well, he cant take on players and he cant cross not to mention his defensive attributes. He has time to develop but those are a number of areas to develop - its a bit like saying I need to develop the areas of being a footballer in order for me to be a footballer.

I remember a young Ashley Cole struggling defensively after being moved back after growing up as a more attacking player. With dedication and time he became one of the best left backs in the world.

I agree with some that right now Walker has a lot of work to do on his all round game. If he has the right mentality and desire to get to the top then he can.

I havent seen any sort of 'partnership' or understanding (actually I'll be fair, there have been one or two brief moments) between the two since Walker came into the team. Two pretty brainless footballers in all truth.

Lennon was at his best with Charlie - they worked so well together and Lennon looked like a 20m winger. Charlies intelligence helped out Lennon immensely.

I think Walker and Lennon arent that compatible - both identical types of players.

Agree, I do miss Corlukas 'eye of the needle' passes that got Lennon in behind the defence.

Last season walker had a midfielder directly in front of him in the 442 formation, this season he's getting a little exposed when we don't have the ball. I think it's just another case of him getting used to the system and he'll come good again.

I think Corluka was ok for the team we were when we bought him but i'd rather have Walker with his potential anyday.

Would expect Naughton to get some time in Europa and put Walker under pressure to get back to his best.
