To be honest if he does come back this season he'll probably get quite a warm welcome.
Which will last until he makes one misplaced pass then it's back to being a 30 million pound flop i'm sure.

According to his brother he "is near" to being back... what ever that means

I don't believe he has a back injury

Young boy like that BS!

I made a post about this but Lamela's injury is a culmination of

Plain Bad Luck - In form of training injuries, sometimes a players get hurt while trying to get back to fitness, tis a way of life. I also believe Lamela falls into this category of plain bad luck. New country, new language, new more physical league, him having to justify his transfer fee etc have all played into his injury. There is a photo of him staying back after a game to to work on his shot , so it is not unimaginable to see him doing some extra work on his own outside of the training center in order for him to get to grips with the league. And with the psychological stress of wanting to adapt quickly and make the WC team, we should be thankful he hasn't completely broken down. Fortunately at 21/22 he still has to time to grow into his body and find ways to cope with the demands of the game.

Still have high hopes for him, has been a difficult transition for him this year but it was always going to be difficult for him. He has the potential to be world class, I really do believe that. I just hope we are the club he proves it.

It would be nice if Tim could give a bit more detail about when he expects our most expensive signing to be available for selection again rather then the regular "is still out" which we get every week. Considering he played in a friendly a few weeks back and nobody really knows what's going on with him except he has/had some thigh strain that turned into a back strain.... I don't really think that is asking tooooo much.

Will be like a new signing all over again if he returns this season.

Or to put a more negative spin on it you could say he'd "be like a new signing all over again if he returns this season"....as in, we've all seen how long it has taken our new signings to get up to speed (or not).

This season was supposed to be the period where he adjusted to the Prem. Instead, if and when he does come back he'll be starting from square one. If he doesn't play until next season it could take several more months before we see what he's capable of, meaning that we've paid (or will potentially pay) £30m for someone who has spent the first 18 months adjusting.

This is why AVB should have been playing him at every available opportunity. Trying to ease him in gently has backfired spectacularly.

Brian Lamela again reiterating on twitter that Erik "is near" recovery and should be playing before April. He also said that Erik's favored position is RW

Looking forward to his return, but so many rumours gathering about a return to Italy. The English lessons don't seem to be going to well if that twitter comment was posted in his home language.
