I for one can't wait to see him playing for us this season coming

He is going to be fantastic!

Eventually, perhaps.

He is going to be starting all over again, and is therefore going to have the same problems adjusting to the pace and physicality of the EPL. If you really believe he's going to click immediately and tear up the league, chances are you're in for a major disappointment. He probably had just enough time on the pitch last season to get an idea of what he's in for, but being forewarned isn't necessarily being forearmed in this instance. Knowing about something and being able to deal with it are different things.

What's doubly worrying is that many of the people claiming that we'll see the 'real' Soldado next season are predicating their forecast on the belief that Lamela will hit the ground running and deliver the silver-salver service that Soldado apparently requires to get a shot on target. If this doesn't happen people will start to turn on Lamela.

If he does hit form from the off, wonderful; I'll be thrilled to bits. I'll also be happy if he weathers the first half of the season and starts hitting his straps around the beginning of December.

It's not all doom n gloom

Have some faith.

And I don't think he will click right away, but he is gonna come good. He is a young lad with bags of ability.

Granted there is some learning with the physicality of the prem league, but simply by training, living here and getting to understand the culture differences will provide a much better baseline for someone to express them selves more on the football pitch.

Essentially, a much better starting place than last season.

The likely scenario, as you said, hopefully by second half of season he'll start putting in more consistent performances, it will still take time, but without the excuses of needing to settle, the food, the language etc etc., he's been here a year in some form or another.

Suggesting the kid needs time and patience is doom and gloom now? Have you forgotten that people were near enough writing him off by the time he'd made three or four appearances?

I've never learnt Spanish, so would be great if somebody could translate this video. Especially the last part where he seems to be speaking about his fitness getting better.

Edit - LOL he was talking about his chances of playing in the next world cup! Saying if he doesnt have any physical problems and demonstrates his ability then hopefully he will be going.

this was posted by eighteeneightytwoo on coys:
I was told that Lamela arrived with a two inch tear in his thigh that was not picked up in his medical. Spurs staff told him he was fine but he didn't feel right so Baldini arranged a scan privately, where they found the tear. (Spurs would have found it if they scanned high enough up his leg) Anyway, by this time Lamela had been forced to play which caused massive stress on his back, causing the fracture. This might explain the various whispers that Lamela was not injured, because the club genuinely didn't think anything was wrong with him until it was too late.
Spurs Medical OUT! No, I'm serious, (If it's true) how can they be that incompetent? We're a Premier League football team, not a third world clinic.

Exactly! On the scans, they didnt go high enough? What the fuck kind of bullshit excuse is that? How in the entire world can they be this incompetent? They turned him away when he went to them feeling discomfort? He had to go to Baldini in order to get another scan done? Are you serious? The incompetency of the medical team is disgusting.

I think you need to make sure your facts are correct before saying things like "The incompetency of the medical team is disgusting".....

For one they never turned him away and two our medical teams dont do the scans..... Its done in a private hospital.

Also where has this Baldini thing come from?

It's not like they're not professionals, there would be a routine protocol for a player medical and a certain set of scans are a part of it. There is no negligence if the club didn't order a scan outside of the normal range, especially as a full body scan is a pointless venture because they often produce misleading results.

However, if Lamela was in pain and the medical staff didn't do anything about it then it is reasonable that questions are asked of the medical and sports science department. Perhaps we need to bring someone in with an overall management responsibility, like Eva
