Not 100% sure if this should be here or general football, but whatever.

Just saw that the list of 10 contenders was released a few days ago...I am in absolutely disbelief that Lamela did not make the final cut. I don't think it was the best goal as both Messi and Ball's were phenomenal in their own right and all the goals were incredible...but wow. I remember thinking that he had locked up a Puskas nomination as soon as he hit that strike. Would have been nice to have a Spurs player in the running and I think he would've had a real chance to win.

Cheeky goal against shit opposition. When you're playing teams like that you can try it.

If it were last minute of the NLD then its a different story. My opinion anyway.

He should use it more often.

Danny Blanchflower sometimes used the rabona to pass the ball during games. You can be accurate every time doing it in this way.

As well Lamela should use it for a shot at goal if the ball falls to his left foot with only a second or two to get the shot away.

Just watched all the nominated goals and, considering at least half of them can be put down to some phenomenally poor defending or what i can only assume is a club being forced to field their eleventh choice goalkeeper.

That said, there are some crackers in there, and it's nice to see a quality team goal in there as well, rather than solo brilliance - Wendell Lira, Athletico-Go -v- Goianesia is a thing of beauty.

Was it not up for this last year?

About to say the same, didn't this goal happen in 2014?

Edit: just seen that the qualifying period was Sept 2014 onwards.

It's a FIFA award is it not ? Probably got a little backhander to make sure some goals were in it and probably already know who the winner is.

Tossers, I've heard fifa is bit corrupt anyway.
Special goal that gets replayed in my mind when I think of great goals at the lane.

The women's goal is surely only there for political correctness. It may have been from halfway, but it won't even have been the best goal from halfway in the last year.

Charlie Adam's was miles better but as you said, all politics and other BS. The only reason you could possibly suggest Lloyd's is better is because it was a World Cup final.
