I hadn't paid the bill for Mature Housewives TV, so was channel hopping last night and found classic NLDs on ESPN Classic and there was one at the Lane must have been mid 80s- Crooks, Hoddle, Clemence, Hughton, Ardiles and Falco were playing for us. Jennings in goal for them, let an easy Crooks goal go through him.

Anyway, the Park Lane and Paxton were fullish but the West stand was completely empty. Anyone know when this was and why this was?

It was the 1982 FA Cup 3rd Round match. Won 1-0, Jennings let a soft one from Crooks go in after about 10 minutes if I remeber. Time when the West Stand was being re-developed and so was empty for about a year.

that wonderful west stand that nearly bankrupted the club and still was crap because of the tiny capacity

I posted a heads up about the ESPN series. That was when the West Stand was being rebuilt.

I'm sure I remember cup games around that time against teams like Hull and Birmingham with only three sides of the ground open, and the crowds were still over 45,000. I'm sure I do.

Quite possible, the West was the first to be redeveloped and the N and S would have still been standing.

I remember Enfield playing Barnsley in an FA Cup replay at the Lane when the West Stand was missing.

Thanks there were some people in the West Lower. Paul Davis was playing for them, that's mainly why I thought it was later. I remember him playing and I am not old am I??? (he says wearing slippers)

Liverpool 31,974 34,745
Man Utd 42,534 41552
Tottenham Hotspurs 28,701 30581
Wolverhampton Wanderers 12478 15667
Everton 19343 20277
Birmingham City 14106 15638

Where can I find that image of the Spurs fans alone in the Emirates in the away end after we beat them?
