2 things spring to mind immediately;

1. How much are the players (and agents) going to be demanding now?!

2. The Premier League (and La Liga, Serie A etc) as a spectacle is finished. There'll be no excitement around top 4 and the fight for Europe which means dead rubbers for at least half the teams from about January onwards.
We could finish 2nd or 17th and it wouldn't make one iota of difference. We're still playing NFL, sorry Super League the following season.

Good luck to Sky & BT trying to make anything sound exciting.

Agreed with all the above posts. But the certainty of playing with the world's best teams instead of having to qualify for CL may tempt Harry to stay.

I'm fairly sure he'd want to stand a chance of winning. And in a league format there's zero chance of us winning.

Why is everyone super in support of some of the most corrupt institutions in the world?
Like fifa just got done by the FBI, the uefa president was just found guilty of corruption (platini) and we are hosting a tournament that has killed more slaves than the pharaohs solely for money.
I mean.... do we really want these institutions dominating football with no competition allowed ever?
They're literally killing slaves by the thousands and yet we call anyone who troubles their power "treasonous"?
Like fucking really? Treasonous? You cant support a governing body.
The PR machines of FIFA, UEFA, and the PL are second to none. Especially with rupert murdochs skysports backing them all the way.
"Weve been found guilty of corruption and murdered thousands of slaves within the last 4 years. But dont look at those guys setting up their competition, they're the REALLY corrupt ones!"

As another poster has said, objection to this new proposal is not at all equivocal with support for FIFA/UEFA/The Premier League et al.

Forming a new Super League, where entry is determined by money rather than sporting achievement, is no solution to the corruption, sleaze, criminal negligence and power broking already rampant in football. This is just a new and concentrated version of that venom.

The Champions League re-vamp can also be filed in the bin where it belongs, imo.

The premier league is nicely balanced in that there is usually something to fight for: avoiding relegation, fighting for both of the European Cups, fighting for the title.

However the clubs can run pay to view direct from the their websites, cutting out SKY and BT, and avoiding the Fifa/Uefa overheads. I have been fed up with SKY's lazy coverage fielding poor and biased pundits, FIFA and UEFA are a waste of space, self serving and corrupt. Our fanbase is 180M: so a direct subscription of say £1 per game has the potential to bring in £180M per match. Of course not everyone would subscribe - but the opportunity is huge. With a bit of syndication between the clubs, it would provide a viewer experience on par or better than what we have now.

Obviously the response from all the leeches will be vitriolic. So we are getting what is expected from SKY at the moment.

So in summary, its a shame to unbalance the premier league. But Im happy for massive poke in FIFA/UEFA and SKY's eyes! Its entirely understandable why this new proposal has been made, and what has created fertile ground for a breakaway.

Interesting to see the criticism of Prince William and Boris Johnson. Between them they are not exactly unfamiliar with greed, privilege, corruption and inheriting something that they have not earned through merit.

Looks like the power of fans and sponsors can change things. Of course, Boris will take it as his win

This had nothing to do with the power of fans more like the power of suggestion. Nothing actually happened. No ball was kicked, no tickets were sold. It was like the biggest event that didn't take place. But it stirred up a hornets nest. It existed on the Internet and everyone is claiming the moral high ground. It was fun to watch and a second series may be commissioned but it will never be as good as the first.

Boris would speak out on stamp collecting if it would get him votes.
I was fully expecting him to come out with some "what ho - I used to love standing on the terraces with father when I was a bally youngster" type shit.

All about one set of vested interests protecting themselves against another.
