Doesn’t take too much for me to start getting excited!
Tbf, being bombastic about Chelsea not getting relegated is one of the easiest stances one can take.

You're either right, or best case scenario you're wrong.

I bloody hope not.

As for relegation, no chance they get relegated.

Theyll beat Palace tonight who are in absolute shite form.

22 points at this stage of the season is horrendous for Chelsea but its not far from safety at all, especially when you consider the relegation candidates

Seven points clear of relegation places.
To clarify, I wasn't suggesting relegation as a possibility. I just find it humorous that halfway through the season, they're closer to the 18th place side than they are to the last European position.

I quite fancy palace tonight as it goes.

How long would it take for Chelsea to be considered a midtable team.

Its going to be 2 years if they don't show something soon and that may get worse with FFP.

Would more than 2 years be enough?

Most pundits consider Chelsea as part of the elite but what no-one seems to state is that was down to one man, Abramovich.

We all wished he'd bugger off and it seemed total fantasy for that to happen.

But the reason we all wished that is because we knew he was the glue.

He was bank rolling that club, he did it for years, a billion spent. Unheard of at the time and only matched recently.

He basically did a Jack Walker but for his whole time there. He did it in a time without FFP. He wasn't a mastermind, he just splashed the cash. He didn't really use his money as well he loaned it all to Chelsea. His money was dirty as hell as well, but no one really cared.

Then the government getting involved with the sale and all sorts going on, suddenly they are free to spend another billion.

It's not luck or skill, it's corruption over 20+ years. Thank God the new owners are idiots.

Still though, people are thinking that they will drop and fail (me included) more likely for me they join the super league.

And good riddance to the dicks if they do.

Ideal scenario - the FA hammer City and Chelsea and they both sod off to the super league and we can just ignore them.

What’s the betting they still go and win the league cup? Even when their league form has been rubbish Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea have somehow ended up winning a pot of some description!

Weird penalty decision imo (2.30). Madueke moves the ball one way and then chucks his leg out the other way to initiate contact with Eze. Thought unnatural positions had some bearing on penalties.

I agree with you but this wasn't even mentioned in commentary.

MP coming out with comments that show that Chelsea have no fucking clue what they're going to do with transfers this month:

"We don’t need to sit together, like an official meeting. Every day we are talking and assessing the squad. There are some players that we own, like Andrey Santos, that we need to take some decisions. But I am happy with the squad that we have. We are focused on recovering players as quickly as possible. Maybe we can do something or not but we did not take any decisions."

Brilliant - it's the 5th Jan and you didn't make any decisions on whether you want / need to sign anyone yet because you have a great squad already, that you can't get a tune out of. Sounds an awful lot like he did when he was with us and our transfer strategy was non existent.

I think its pretty clear that Poch is not really involved in transfer decisions at Chelsea right now.

For all of MPs positives, transfers were not his strongest trait~ in fact I'd say he's pretty poor in many of his purchases for both us and SOTON. You can't count PSG as thats something different all together.
I'd be surprised now if he lasts the season

I think this is probably partly true but you also have to take into account context. How many first choices was he actually granted at Spurs? Wanyama and Alderweireld maybe? The rest like Janssen, Aurier, Lucas, Sissoko etc seemed like club signings to me. In the case of Sissoko we know that was a Levy signing.

Then there was also the thing about him not being flexible with transfers and the idea when Mourinho came in that he was reasonable with targets. But then we ended up with players like Hojbjerg, Doherty and Reguilon. Probably Poch was right to stand his ground because Levy was offering him duds.

The one big mistake seems like Ndombele. But the problem is Poch never really had time to work with him so we’ll never know what might have been. Most people now are raving about Gio though.

Our transfers have definitely improved in the last couple of years but we also had a very good streak immediately before and the season after Poch was here.

One day, we'll discover that Boehly was just Abramovich's gimp all along.
