They’ve really opened up a can of worms by starting him last night. It was already front page news, but now it’s everywhere, tv, radio, twitter. And instead of just pillorying Zouma, the public and press are going after the club too, as in picking him they’ve in a sense taken on some of the responsibility.

Really bad move.

How long before the club tries to make this go away with a donation to an animal charity?

Why would you give him credit?

He's not sorry for what he did, he's sorry he got caught doing it. Or to be more precise, his PA has issued an apology to try and save face.

****.

Agree, he absolutely will not have said any of those words in his 'apology' they will have been said for him, he probably doesn't even know what was said in it.

Moyes looks like the kind of guy who might nibble on a stray cat leg with his single malt whisky and David Sullivan's hats could easily be cats, so not surprised they've tried to brush it all under the carpet really. ?

Strangely enough, I've just got back from walking my dog and I got chatting to a lady that works at Lewes prison.
She was telling me about a guy who beat his dog outside a pub, was caught on the pub cctv and reported to the police.
He got sentenced to 2 years inside.

Now, I know it's a different situation and I know nothing of this guys record or history but it does show that the police can, and will prosecute for animal cruelty.

With the current public attention this case has brought, I can't see the powers that be having any choice but to act on this.

I think the MET have shown recently that they are willing to turn a blind eye to clear evidence, I’ve no faith they will look into this

They've said they're going to fine him the "maximum" 2 week's wages, presumably with that going to the RSPCA.

Apart from it's been pointed out that the maximum is apparently 6 weeks, not 2. So they clearly don't give a toss.

Edit: I must stress, all of this is subject to the results of their internal investigation. "Innocent until proven to be booting your cat across the fucking kitchen and then having the footage seen by millions", as the saying goes.

Remember the woman who put a cat in a bin, her life has been completely buggered. Although she was only fined a small amount - the penalty according to the article, could have been six months in prison or a £20,000 fine

What Zouma did was far more shocking and he should face the maximum

I just had a 'The Sun' alert that says he's been axed from the team and squad and fined £250,000 with the club - yep you all guessed it - donating the money to an animal charity...

Oh and his 2 cats have been taken away by RSPCA...

Sounds like that's just two weeks wages. Pathetic.

amazing that it took the backlash for them to reach this decision.

Not so much the fine, that would take a day or two to reveal, but he should have been axed for the squad immediately

Have D&R said what action they are taking against his brother yet? Will look even worse if a club from the lower tiers take a harder line than West Ham did considering what part both brothers played in this.
They haven't said yet. All they've said so far is that they condemn his actions, are taking time to process it all and will update in due course. Pretty much the same as what West Ham said.

Dagenham need the money from ticket sales a lot more so than West Ham do, so I hope that helps to make the club banish him.

West Ham had the chance to come out of this unscathed by dropping him from the squad immediately, yet they, may be somewhat unsurprisingly, decided against this to help them on the football side of things and they, quite rightly, have come under a barrage of abuse in doing so.

Horrible, horrible club.

Went to the game today with some spammer friends. Most of these guys support Zouma. All around an uncomfortable experience, they already have a chant about him kicking things.
And we should be surprised they're doing that? Quite honestly I'd expect nothing less from those neanderthals

Justice would be the next West Ham match being stopped for Zouma to be taken away in handcuffs off the pitch. That would just be a beautiful sight & thoroughly deserved public embarrassment for all parties.

When we play them on the 20th March, we should all take a small stuff cat toy and throw them at Zouma on the pitch. Like Real Betis do, but cats. 1000s and 1000s of cats.
