They’re also taking to Utd re Maguire and Mctominay. Along with their attempts to get Gallagher and JWP. They won’t sign all of them but the Utd duo would be the type of signings that could work out really well for them. Like Evans did for Leicester etc.

They’ll still be ****s though.

West Ham favourites to sign JWP now. Would be a very good signing for them. I don’t massively rate him but I reckon he guarantees them 5-10 goals and 10 assists a season just from set pieces alone.
He only gets 5-10 if he's on penalty duties.

Massively overated imo

They've unsurprisingly latched onto the Joe Lewis story on the Kumb website quicker than a greyhound out of the traps

When they're not trying to overstate their achievements or importance they're desperately trying to come up with negative press about us.

On that Joe Lewis story on their site they're trying to whip up sentiment by claiming we are those most hated club in the league and always will be. They need to take a good objective look in the mirror at themselves because if they did they'd realise that we're not the most hated club in the league, the plain objective truth is that they're desperate to want us to be the most hated club in the league. They want everyone else to hate us to the same levels they do.

They always want to hate another team or club and they got frustrated that they couldn't recycle and whip up their hatred of Millwall to intense levels because they hardly ever played them so instead they tried to latch onto another club to express that pent up hate for and latched all that pent up hate on us.

They've invented this one sided rivalry to such intense levels about us and they're just jealous about the fact our rivalry with Arsenal isn't the same as our rivaly with them, they're desperate for it to be but it never will be as far as we're concerned.

A significant but loud minority of West Ham or Chelsea fans cannot logically or objectively justify the real reason as to why they hate us so much more than they hate Arsenal, because sadly and unfortunately it's deep rooted in their prejudices however much they try to protest that it's not, the same said loud minority always try to deflect that prejudice away by claiming that this is not the real reason for the hate by coming up with diversionary reasons such as because they think that we think we're better than we are but we all know the real reason.

Agree with what you say but I do not give them any airtime or clicks. Ignore them as they are a nothing team and always will be….unless they are brought by some oil dollars 😳

We're the most hated club in the league.

Yeah, I'd agree with this. I don't think I've met a neutral with whom we don't have a rivalry that actually likes us. They seem to genuinely dislike us. When I ask I'm often told it's because our fans are deluded thinking we're a big club. Personally, most Spurs fans I know in person are self-depricating and often find being a Spurs fan to be very bittersweet. We don't go around proclaiming we're shit hot, like some of the others do.

Part of it could be jealousy. We've got a strong history, but when it comes to modern day we're not successful despite punching well above our weight against the bigger clubs. We are a "big club", we have a worldwide fanbase. Not quite the level of United, Liverpool, Arsenal, City and Chelsea in terms of modern status with our fanbase and prestige, but certainly bigger than the others (for how long that lasts I don't know). Perhaps the fans of the bigger clubs I just mentioned hate the fact that we're trying to muscle in on their fun, and the fans of smaller or more equal clubs are not happy at us trying to have "ideas above our station".

Perhaps those neutrals don't like us because we're just a frustrating club. We're almost good enough but never quite there. Always disappointing in our shortcomings, and we often give other clubs trouble whilst not managing to capitalise and make success of it. We must seem a weird, frustrating club to others.

I also think our lack of clout with the media doesn't help. We're an easy target for a quick clickbait article, or shitty radio soundbites, and we don't often get a lot of sympathy from the press. For example, the Leicester season we were seen as the big bad wolf daring to spoil the Vardy party, despite the fact that we were also underdogs, albeit not as much as Leicester were. We were never first that season (Arsenal were, so who are the real bottle jobs there?), but for daring to come close we got shat on by a lot of people. The fact that we don't just lie down, roll over, give up and allow the big clubs to get a free pass at beating us or signing our best player is also seen as being grossly unfair.

Personally, I don't give a flying fuck how they see us, and I find it incredibly amusing that they're more obsessed about us than their own bloody team. It gives me great pleasure that we live rent free in the heads of so many fans. And if one were to read this and think, "That's why we hate Spurs fans, because they're arrogant and deluded and think it's all about them", then I guess they've proven my point. Rent free...

Think this is the case for most "big teams" tbh. I saw a poll the other day on reddit titled "which top 6 team do you hate least" and we were second behind Arsenal with the likes of Chelsea, United, City and Liverpool all much more disliked than us.

If you're somewhere around the top you get more media attention, more criticism and in our case, more mockery since we never fucking win anything. If we were mid-table or lower we'd be more popular as we'd get less attention and be seen as less of a threat. The fact that we're grouped in with the big 6 without any recent trophies also seems to rile up a lot of fans too, especially the ones that have recently been a tier below us like Villa, Leicester, Everton etc.

During the Poch years I seem to recall a lot of neutrals and non-rival opposition fans liked or at least respected us since we were playing good stuff and challenging without buying the league. Since we started trying to mix with the big boys, appoint big name managers and play pragmatic football, we're less popular again.

So chances of West Ham getting drawn into a relegation battle is pretty high in my opinion. There is a clear divide between the top teams:

City, Arsenal, United, Liverpool, Us, Chelsea, Brighton, Newcastle, and Villa and the rest of the league.

For the first time in a long time I think the bottom half teams are very poor;

Bournemouth, Burnley, Everton, Fulham, Luton, Forest, Sheff Utd, Wolves and West Ham.

Personally can see any of those 9 easily going down without any major surprise.

They will be down there again but Moyes knows how to dig out wins. They wont be relegated.

I agree although there is a lot of talk of friction behind scenes. The new DoF is targeting youth and promise, whereas Moyes wants proven experience - probably explains why they've made no signings with £100m burning a hole in Sullivan's pocket.

I can see Moyes being first manager to go, with a younger coach brought in. If they hadn't won the ECL, I'm pretty sure he'd have gone by now anyway.

Flirted with relegation last season, no new signings so far this season and the players they are linked with aren't that inspiring, they're playing in a tougher European competition where they wont have the luxury of being able to play a second string team each week, and they have lost their best player for the last 4/5 years.

I'm not so sure they'll be safe.

Bollocks on the line prediction time - I think Bournemouth will have a solid season and be the "unexpected" top-half finishers, and one of West Ham, Wolves or Fulham will be relegated along with Luton and Sheffield United who IMO are as good as down already.

West Ham under Moyes remind me of Burnley under Dyche. Tough to beat, win a few but always only a couple of injuries or a bit of bad luck away from getting relegated.

Here's hoping.

Wolves are such a complete mess that if Lopetegui walks, which I don't think is out of the question, I think they'll go down.

There's some optimism here regarding WHAM's troubles and I can understand that to an extent but Wolves and Sheff U are such disasters right now and I'll be amazed if Luton stay up. For me they're three clear relegation favourites.

They should spend some time down there, but yet another season where there are three clearly worse teams to save them unfortunately.

Brentford without Toney, Wolves without Neves/Traore, West Ham without Rice.

Rumours about Fulham losing Mitrovic as well.

So glad we are playing attacking football this year, we could tonk some of these teams if we click.

West Ham better hope Scamacca comes good or they'll be in trouble as well. Valencia and Ings are gone.

You need goals to stay in this league and a lot of those teams don't have em.
