I suspect that in the current climate we'll have to box clever to pick up quality players. One place to start is to look at those with a year left remaining on their contracts.

Here's a list of players with a year remaining on their contracts according to Transfermarkt. I've left out some of the unrealistic names (Mbappe, Fati, Goretzka, Varane, Pogba, Camavinga etc.) and some who've had serious, long-term injuries recently (Sule, Tolisso, Zagadou, Carvajal). Some really interesting options here.

- Andre Onana, 25, Ajax, GK
- Thomas Strakosha, 26, Lazio, GK
- Nikola Milenkovic, 23, Fiorentina, CB
- James Tarkowski, 28, Burnley, CB
- Matthias Ginter, 27, M'gladbach, CB
- Alessio Romagnoli, 26, Milan, CB
- Luiz Felipe, 24, Lazio, CB
- Boubacar Kamara, 22, OM, CB/DM
- Robin Gosen, 26, Atalanta, LB/LM
- Denis Zakaria, 24, M'glabach, DM
- Boubakary Soumare, 22, Lille, DM/CM
- Marcelo Brozovic, 28, Inter, DM/CM
- Franck Kessie, 25, Milan, CM
- Lorenzo Pellegrini, 24, Roma, CM
- Ilaix Moriba, 18, Barcelona, CM
- Marcel Sabitzer, 27, RB Leipzig, CM/AM
- Michael Olise, 19, Reading, CM/AM
- Kang-in Lee, 20, Valencia, AM
- Adam Hlozek, 18, Sparta Prague, AM
- Paulo Dybala, 27, Juventus, AM/CF
- Danny Ings, 28, Southampton, CF
- Odsonne Edouard, 23, Celtic, CF

Bargains galore which could transform our team.

Add Joachim to those and our squad looking a lot better as believe each “should” improve on what we have currently.

given they’ve 12 months on their contracts would hope we can snap up for less than 100mil.

What happens with H and Bale will likely dictate whether we explore any attacking options.

I would tear into the training ground car park, mill Sissoko and Aurier out of it, before reversing over Sanchez and Dier. Enter Levy's office and tell him what has happened, watch his face fall before telling him to claim on the insurance, it was the most he was ever going to get for those muppets, as he never sells at realistic prices and winds up paying wages for another year.
Warn him this is the way it will be, give him a list of the rest that need moving on and tell him to get cracking, rub his baldy head and turn and leave.

I would make it a policy to ship out the worst 5-6 performers in the squad, year on year, no matter what, even if it means losing money. Replace these with 2 ready made stars 1-3 up and coming players from elsewhere and 1-3 players of the academy, if they're of the required quality. All to prevent the stagnation and dry rot from setting in. What that can do we are now witnessing first hand...

Squads are like gardens - they need constant trimming, weeding and freshening up to keep everyone hungry and on their toes and to prevent players from getting too comfortable. Being at Spurs should require constant graft and struggle - and not be a free meal ticket.

First I would have lengthy talks with all key colleagues. Levy, scouts, coaches. What do they want, what can we afford, what input I need in that position. I would try to identify a philosophy and improtant attributes with a focus on mentality and strong characters that needs to be explored in interviews with agents and players.
Then I'd go and set up a plan with the first team manager. What style he intends to play and how to get a good balance in the squad as well as a hierarchy. In terms of player recruitment I'd ask the manager to draw down his three favourite formations and fill every position with a starter and a replacement so every position is filled with 2 options. The alternatives should be a good mix between players that push immediately for a first team spot and some youth players who will be trusted with some minutes. I would want to make clear there is a clear plan and path for every player in the squad.

Sales of course depend on the market.

For example this could be a set up for Conte:

A) Prefered system: 3-5-2
B) Alternative: 3-4-2-1
C) Back up solution: 4-2-3-1

Squad for A)

---------------------Lloris------------------- Hart, #3
------Andersen--Skriniar--Rodon----------- Alderweireld, Tanganga, Davies
-Celik--Ndombele-PEH--Lo Celso--Reguilon- Doherty (meh), Sabitzer, Skipp, Young English who fits profile or even Dele, Sessegnon
-----------------Kane---Son---------------- Bale, Lucas, Scarlett + maybe someone like Lamela or Bergwijn who plays the non important cup games mostly.

B)
Same with Bale and Son behind Kane, Tanguy or Gio dropping out

C)

--------------------Lloris----------------
Celik---Andersen--------Skriniar--Reguilon
------------Lo Celso----PEH---------------
---Bale---------Lucas/Tanguy-------Son---
--------------------Kane-------------------

This could lead to the decision Aurier, Sanchez, Dier, Sissoko, Winks, (Dele), Lamela/ Bergwijn and Vinicius are not needed for the long term plan and should be placed on the transfer market.

Furthermore I would try to implement these tactics and strategy in the U23 team so youth players can learn quickly about the plans on the pitch.

Players who can not make enough game time until winter should be allowed to leave on loan if young enough.

First job would be to find Wanksy’s contract, set fire to it and flush the ashes down the lavvy.
Second job would be to tell Sissoko to get out. I’d just do lots of pointing at the door.
Thirdly I’d fire Eric Dier.

After that, slap up grill, have a few bants with the Hitchmeister, see what’s about, scope the trim in a few bars around town, few lines in the john. Back to the office. Have a look at some spreados in Excel. Knock up a quick one-pager, make sure Danny Rose has cleared out his locker. See Harry K in the corridors - “Hey H-man!” I’d say, whilst double pointing at him. Carry on walking to the canteen. Grab a coffee and a biscotti. Make a couple of calls on the cell whilst having a vape outside, see what the vibe is with a few irons we got in the fire. Send Hitchmo some gnarly WhatsApp grot for the lolz. Dish him out some top bantz by calling him a “slap head knobber”, Check through the one-pager. Forward it on to Danny Boy. Make a few recommendations about firing a few players even though I’ve already incinerated Winksy’s contract. Reply to Hitchmo.
Ask who he reckons for “one twenny milly”
Go have a bit of a chat with Donna. See what’s going on. See if there’s a knees up at her gaff at the weekend.

y’know. Just general DOF stuff really.

So much potential here. we could sign 9 players from this list knowing that at least 3 or 4 could be sold on for considerable profit should it not quite gel,

Onana (depending on how long is left ton his ban)
Milenkovic
Felipe
Kessie
Pellegrini
Moriba
Edouard

The definite starters for us are

Sabitzer and Dybala

Out of the players I've actually seen enough of I'd be all over Tarkowski, Milenkovic, Kessie, Sabitzer, Dybala, and Ings.
Considering we could move on Alli, Ndombele, Winks, Sissoko, Lamela or Moura, Davinson-Sanchez and Dier (also CCV, Foyth etc) I'd like to think it was doable and a considerable upgrade.

I'm going full champ manager Levy style and sell the entire playing squad for c£700m, clear the stadium debt and build a brand new team of free transfers on "healthy" wages that will lead to a complete club collapse in 2023/4. My picks for this summer

GK: Donnarumma
CB: Sergio Ramos
CB: Jerome Boateng
CB: Nikola Maksimovic
RWB: Elseid Hysaj
LWB: Patrick Van Aanholt
DM: Paulinho
DM: Balbuena
RWF: Lionel Messi
LWF: Joshua King
ST: Diego Costa

Subs: Schlupp, Bertrand, Teixeira, Townsend, N’Koulou, Jovetic, Dzagoev, Gazzaniga

Blend of experience, signings that bring some hope to fans, bit of nostalgia, a lack of pace and far too many bad attitudes will surely lead to a triumphant yet fruitless season (6-9th and a semi final of the European Vauxhall Conference) whilst making a huge profit and clearing the club loan debt. I'm pretty sure that ticks most of the chairman's boxes for this season.

Bit of fun, so if City bid £140m I’d sell Kane, hope to raise £50m selling Aurier, Lamela, Sissoko, and Dier, so let’s say the warchest is £225m.

I’d sign Edouard and Ings as strikers. £50m

Bring in Kounde and Tarkowski at CBs. 70m

Sign Aarons for RB. £30m

Bissouma for DM. 37m

Moussa Diaby for W. £35m

I walk in like I’ve just won the lottery. Hire some guy from the prem as my manager who’s a nice guy. Next call is to my mate who’s a top top agent. Tell him it’s a free for all now and to get some commission slips ready as he’s gonna be making serious bank.

next up I call my mates in the Italian press and tell them to link us with any Tonio,Ricardo and Arri to make it look like I’m scouring the market.

Hour 3. Have a espresso with Daniel. Discuss how much winks runs, Levy talks a levels.

lunch.Harry Kane comes to see me. Understand not a word apart from “Man City”

3 pm. Nuno pops by asks about positives. I tell him I like his beard.
