Giovani Lo Celso has continued his impressive loan spell at Villarreal with another impressive display, this time against Valencia. The Tottenham loanee helped his side to a 2-0 home win over one of the clubs his manager Unai Emery used to be in charge of.

It's probably best he stays there so. Worth every penny if VR break their transfer record

No reason why he'd want to come back here. Villareal fans love him whilst many of ours somehow concluded he wasn't very good. He's tearing it up over there so hopefully we get plenty of wonga for him.

He showed glimpses of what he could do, but the conclusion he wasn't very good for us was most probably borne out of frustration that he was rarely fit to turn out for us, but would be okay for Argentina.

It's a league played at a different pace and obviously suits him. If he were to come back to us it more than likely would again be in and out performances. If Villareal have the money let's take it and move on.

one league goal and 3 assists in his entire spurs career, along with always being injured along with a bunch of nothing displays will do that i guess.
the much more derided tanguy has 6 goals and 6 assists in the same time period .

glad he's doing well in spain, as we should get a nice sum of money. the prem is not for him based on 3 years of nothing.

I don’t know what his English language is like, but never underestimate the importance of feeling at home
Looks like Spain is a much better fit for him sadly for us
I was very hopeful when he joined but sometimes things don’t work out.

Precisely this. It's the same with Kulusevski and Lukaku etc, sometimes it just doesn't work. Different leagues, environments, tactics, Ref protection and cultures. Sad but true. Best thing we could probably do now, unless he has a burning desire to return and try again, is to get as much money as possible and part ways. Yep he'll probably turn into someone we may have missed out on and maybe even bite us in the behind in Europe or potentially return to PL in time but we need fully committed, fully functional players right now and not in some mythical future.

I wouldn't disagree with that at all. Injuries played a big part in his lack of minutes on the pitch, and the more he missed out, the worse a player he seemed to become in the eyes of a lot of our supporters. I'm fully onboard with him going to Spain, and not because he's a bad player but because we'll get a good fee for him and hopefully it's a straightforward sale.

Yeah - he ain’t coming back as they will probably make it permanent.
He always seemed to out the effort in (a lot more than Tanguy did) but maybe he just struggled with the pace and physicality of the premier league. You could always see glimpses of a quality player in there, as with Bergwijn.

Lo Celso had a lot of injury problems that disrupted his form. Ndombele was derided for fitness and/or attitude issues (one may have been perceived as the other), rather than for a lack of goals and assists.

Ndombele made just 7 more league appearances in 3 years than lo celso, as he also had his share of injury problems but put up superior stats across the board in that period. So it's not as if he was some mainstay himself. Also was Lo celso's attitude spot on? I think not
neither has worked out in England at all, and aren't suited to us and both need to be sold asap.
the myth that lo celso is a misunderstood gem of a player needs to die
