Yes, I posted in the General Football VAR thread that the tournament could have benefited from the system. And Alfie definitely would have.

Agreed. He looks a real talent but I think he’s best a play making CM/goal scoring CM or a 10. Scarlett doing well too. Great we have 2 big young talents.

Speed was not a crucial requirement for playing down that side in the first half. Experience of bog snorkeling would have been more useful.

I think he’s pace is decent tbh. Not winger lightening quick obviously. But a bit like Gazza really sharp over 5-10 yards to get away from a player. What I really noticed yesterday was how much he tracked back and put his foot in.

That'd be an interesting idea. The other idea I had was to get him a good loan to a League One team 'till Christmas that plays good football (MK Dons would be a good one considering their success with Parrott and sale of Twine). See how he does and then think about getting him a move to either a Championship club or perhaps reintegrate into our first team squad (again depending entirely on how he goes in the first half of the season). I think there's every chance that Conte and his crew may be open to giving him opportunities sooner than we think (given the comments about how highly Conte and his crew think of Alfie).

England will play Israel in the final and be very surprising if they don’t win.Very decent chance Alfie could get player of the tournament it’s pretty much him or Chukwemeka. Whatever happens his value has been raised massively. Him and Chukwemeka have been levels above. They are basically the Foden and Mount of this age group big future for both.

Also believe from August he can sign a 5 year deal. Current deal is to 2024. So wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen at all.

Agree, cometh the hour cometh the man, and home grown which we might well need. I would much rather see him sensibly managed and given time in a first team setup than go back to players who have had their time. This boy has a future, his skill and temperment will have been noted by AC so lets not have a couple of years get in the way. COYS
