Nah, Lennon wasn't scared to take on his man.

He's more like Sessegnon currently.

The Sessegnon comparison is worth noting currently.

Johnson just has that same ' timid ' look about him . That's been my main worry with him tbh. Hopefully he kicks on

Johnson doesn't seem to have any belief in himself to be able to take someone on in a 1v1. Always takes the easy option of stopping or passing backwards. Wan bissaka is on a fellow he needs to be targeting him.
The problem with not having cover is that some players need that realisation that they will be dropped if they dont do it.

Me thinks Johnson could do with a spell on the bench once we get some players back.

Think he's better off as an impact player currently!

I'm not saying Skipp is that bad (nice pass to Werner), but is he better in that attacking role than Donley would be? Donley got the instincts to create chances, even if its a step up from PL2. At least give it a shot. Even if Donley had a mediocre game, I actually don't think our midfield would look worse in terms of creativity.
He’s actually been okay the problem is that we just can’t create and control the midfield with both him and PEH on the pitch. You can play one or the other just not both.

BJ and Timo have been poor. Romero and VdV looking a little rusty which is probably to be expected. I’d be thinking of throwing Drago on to shore things up at the back and think Radu could also cause them major problems from corners where they already look all over the shop.

well werners confidence looks shot
Honestly, when I see comments like that, I can't help but think that it's people repeating what they've been fed by the media/narrative re. certain players. It's like we believe the hype and we see their play through that lens.

Also, no talk of the Wan Bissaka tackle as well as the Evans elbow. Interesting.

United fans mouthing off on Twitter that they should have had a penalty for Garnacho falling down.

Watching Timo shoot, you have to wonder how much of it is skill and how much of it is mental. While it is probably a combination of both, it's like he is shooting not to miss.
That's an easy fix. Let's get him shooting to miss....

Werner gets some leeway today though. Straight in and not played much.

Why on earth does sky do 5 minutes of adverts, then come back for a twenty second montage only to go back to more adverts! So annoying.

saying he has down okay is very generous, he looks like a lost puppy out there
Maybe, I usually slate him so trying to be fair as I’ve seen him play a lot worse than this but yea people know my feelings on Skipp, I feel like we are playing with 10 men when he plays.

Naff defending has cost us, we’ve been sloppy at the back, rusty perhaps the best word.

I think Timo has done alright actually, clearly lacks confidence and he’ll have to get used to the jeers when he puts a shot over the bar, but you can see how his pace can stretch teams and get us in.

The midfield, well, the midfield is what you would expect given it’s set up with injuries and absences. Neither Skipp nor Hojbjerg have been bad for me, they just don’t suit the way we play. Especially Skipp being asked to play higher up, it’s like asking a fish to climb a tree - just not built to do that job.

What I would say, that I haven’t seen much mention of is Richy having a good game overall, got another goal but he’s also won the ball back, made some important clearances and been busy and pressed well.

Agree. For all the complaints about Johnson, Skipp etc, VdV and Romero have looked rusty to say the least and Porro has struggled to contain Rashford. Maybe you could make an argument that Porro could do with more help but the other two are lacking a bit of sharpness I think.

VDV and Romero are obviously one step off it but we still need to show more in midfield and attack, as Man U are now just sitting off us and not really pressuring high.

Johnson and Werner need to be more direct or at least use the ball quicker. as they're both slowing it down.

Personnel punishing us a bit today but with the way we create through team play, the chances should still come.

COYS!

They are both a bit pedestrian. They generally pass take the easy option whenever there is a high risk progressive pass on that might create a good chance.

They are also not able to dribble out of pressure, so invariably lose the ball when hustled and there isn't an easy out ball. We can afford to have one of them, but having both makes us very predictable and slow in attack.

It's also a case of not having a proper CAM on the field.
