Nah... we were all over them and they got lucky with a soft pen and an own goal. If our new back line weren't playing together for the first time, and actually remembered each other's first names, they'd have got nothing.
Read again. That’s what I basically said. We were the better team. And given our circumstances, they should be annoyed at themselves for not bossing the game.

Its going to take time for the team to get used to the tactics and get the understanding of their teammates in the context of the new system, but happened at Celtic, is the wingers would start wide but come inside and either the inverted FB or the #8 on that side would go on the outside of them and it also needs good movement from the striker to create space for other players to move into.

Haven't seen the Brentford game yet, so can't comment on that, but I would expect it to take quite a few months before we see fluid movement between the 3 on each side.

Edit:
Here are the Heatmaps of the 2 FBs for Celtic last year

Heat map? Surprised over how warm Glasgow look compared to London?

When Bentacur is back, I am not sure how Ange is going to be be able to give GLC sufficient game time to keeo him happy. No European football to use to rotate / experiment. Who do you leave out of Maddison, Bissouma and Bentacur? Maybe play Maddison in the forward line?

This is a good breakdown of Ange's style of football from Sunday’s game, also highlights some of the problems that Son and Kulu out wide will cause by their strengths not being suited to this system.

Benta won’t likely be back this season really. Plus maddison gets injuries and Benta may likely rotate at 6/8 so plenty for Gio to play,

Also shows why skipp is so pointless at 8.

Watched that a little while ago, it’s a superb video and sums it all up really well.

Their analysis of Son and Deki and the problem they will cause in that position is spot on. Both excellent players but they are profile misfits and will mean the system doesn’t operate at full efficiency. One way to start working around this is to move Son to striker and play Solomon LWF instead. Then sign another wing forward comfortable on both flanks. At least one of the 2 wing forward positions must always be occupied by a player who is explosive and a 2 way dribbler.

Preferably both wing forwards should be like that long term, like scum have.

Any idea what is happening with Gil? I can't even find a thread for him. You'd think he'd be great in Ange's system playing from the left

Solomon actually played a decent chunk of pre season on the right with Perisic on the left, it was no coincidence that during pre season the 2nd half team looked better and scored more goals that’s the 1st half team.

IMO it’s a huge shame he got injured in the first week of pre season, he has the attributes to potentially flourish on that left wing position under Ange, problem now is he has missed pre season and history shows that players can have a tendency not to catch up when this happens.

Could Deki have a future as a CAM? Might be a useful Maddison alternative.
With his output during limited game-time I'd like to see Porro play in Deki's position at least once in the coming weeks, with Deki playing the right-sided 8.

Son - Richarlison - Porro
Maddison - Kulusevski
Bissouma
Udogie - VDV - Romero - Emerson

On paper I like that balance, but in reality we have no idea how well both Deki and Porro can play those roles.

Disagree that Skipp is pointless as an 8. He excels in his reading of the game and can cover the areas defensively when he covers for the RB attacking the box or when we need to transition and cover space back defensively. He also showed he ability to score against Barcelona. I don't think he's the best fit, but not pointless at all.

I'm pretty sure this means we will see Sarr in this position long-term because he can excel offensively and defensively. BUT I would love to see the rotation that Kulusevski could have with Lo Celso as an 8 on that RW. We know Lo Celso's ability and his history playing RWF successfully for Villareal. The rotation and movement with Deki could give Deki more freedom to get in the half-space and in the center of the pitch more to be more effective at moments during the match. I don't know if he has what it takes to play the 8/10 position long-term though with the defensive demands and the work rate required.

This is the move for me. If you play him in Skipp’s position, he can play the passes Skipp chooses not to, while offering him potentially more shots central that he will take. I do think this should wait until Bentancur is back to experiment, though. Presumably in a cup match, as I think Maddison and Kulu as our attacking midfielders isn’t enough protection in midfield, and pairing Bentancur’s engine with Kulu makes sense on paper.
