He's a very likable guy with smart answers that have a bit of nuance or depth. He's been here 5 mins, so it's good he acknowledges not suggesting how long-suffering fans should feel. It's not been all bad, but last year's shit with 20+ years of Levy's undermining antics, plus the season's eve sale of our best homegrown player in modern times can take a toll. Ange has already been undermined in that sense. But all he and we can do is crack on.

Has he been undermined? He talks quite clearly about the challenges of managing an oversized squad during the press conference and the need to reduce numbers.

It may be his choice to reduce numbers before bringing more players in. It also may not.

We're undoubtedly a weaker team than when he got the job because of Kane's departure and the timing of it. That was a club choice and Ange must forge ahead now without a killer striker. And the season is already underway with a messy squad to sort out. Welcome to Spurs.

Given his challenges- returning us to a peak poch position (imo) - he handles himself beautifully. Think he’s gonna be a personality amongst the PL coaches/managers this year. Looking forward to the season ahead: even if we make 8th/9th. Transitional times

Have to admit, I rarely watch manager interviews, probably because I never wanted to the personalities of conte/mourinho etc, but I ange comes across as a very normal bloke, no arrogance, wants to work hard etc

just hope we give him the time and resources now

Ange literally said himself that he knew Kane would likely be off from their first conversation and had plans in place for it. So he wasn't undermined at all.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Exactly. It is very easy to be negative and people have plenty of reason to be disillusioned with the way that the club have been since the decline of the Poch years but I don't personally understand why people seem to see the worst in everything. If one is that disillusioned and negative - why bother following the club?

He's also had udogie, maddison, VDV, solomon added.

Not to mention Bissouma who wasn't used.

It's not that much weaker. Bar kane, who is irreplaceable.

The squad is bloated, city and Liverpool haven't completed their business, so it's hardly a spurs only issue.

The comment about undermining is just pushing a narrative. He even says they are in regular conversations.

On what basis

There is no basis, it's just to have a moan about Levy.

It's funny people say they love him because he speaks truths then ignore what he says. 😂

Whatever man. We've been playing this game for decades now. Always letting the early season slide by, always playing whack a mole with the squad.

Ange loves it mate. He says this is the kind of job he loves. A shit show basically. This is his job of a lifetime. I doubt he’s sitting there having a cry wank over Kane or whatever. Obviously I’m sure there’s things he would’ve preferred like having a few more out the door but he was brought in for a rebuild and I’m sure, seeing as he comes across as a reasonable bloke, that he didn’t expect everything sorted in one window.

Ange will get us playing exciting football and that for me is everything.

I appreciate we are all different but as long as I look forward to the matches every week that is what it’s about for me.

Winning a trophy is the cherry on the cake, rather than the cake. The ideal scenario is to have both but given the choice I would definitely take the great football over the winning.

I’m sure in lots of people’s eyes that makes me a loser but I will be a happy loser at least.

I actually think it's the opposite of being a loser.

A lot of "fans" latch on to winning clubs like the trophies they win make them better than others, hence the bantering and mocking.

If spurs won something, its really not my own personal achievement, just a good time and memory. Imo

96% of clubs in the league pyramid won't win anything in the next 10 years, doesn't make the fans of them losers.

Watching Ange's press conference, when he said he wants "everyone talking about our way of playing football". Love this, he is a breath of fresh air and I'm buying into it big time.

You're a good poster and I agree with your posts on here about Postecoglou. I think he's a breath of fresh air and will knuckle down and get on with the job with whatever he's given. He's clearly a fighter and an underdog throughout his career, and I love how positive and honest he is. I'm genuinely over the moon to see us playing front-foot attacking football again.

I wasn't just having a moan and I'm sorry if it came across that way. I was simply posting an article I thought others might find useful, as it had some comments from Postecoglou about how the large squad has negatively affected training, and as the article author says, affected incomings.

I then added a sentence of commentary because I think the failure to move on players over the years has left us with a suboptimal squad situation for our new manager. To me, that's not setting him up for success. It wasn't just a dig, it was my view about the contenr I'd shared.

I'm not someone who goes into every thread to moan about Levy. I thought the article about Postecoglou was interesting and thought I'd share it with others.

Exactly. He can't really lose by taking this job.
When the previous 2 managers were serial winners who both failed to win anything here, it's not going to be a stain on his CV if he doesn't manage it...yet if by some miracle he does then that's a massive achievement.
