The obvious change that should've been made, after the reds, was to sent the fullbacks on overlaps wide and deep instead of midfield. For once I agree with Neville about something, he was talking about this last night. A lot of what we do generally, is overload the middle to create passing opportunities on the flanks. Against 9 men, we needed to do the opposite. Overload the sides and switch it quickly to unsettle and open them up.
Yeah. He was spot on about that. We’re going to have to do that more against bunkered teams.

Or if we want to keep the FBs narrow, we need to de-invert the wingers so they can go wide on their preferred foot vs inside every time.

It was precisely that that led to the goal. Just frustrating it took so long for them to do it.

7 bloody games he's been here. Never seen anything like it.
Someone said it in the summer but the bar was set so low that just good football would be enough. He's done way more than and we all desperately needed what he's brought.

The scenes yesterday were amazing.

Yeah exactly. Felt almost random. Think it was the first time we saw Porro at the backline this game? Would like to see more of his crosses from there. Makes more sense for Kulu and Porro to switch up there, considering their qualities.

With Porro's general passing ability, he needs to be the back up plan if we need to change things up, especially with Perisic out now.

His passes/crosses are fantastic.

EDIT: Porro not Porto.

Sky used that song as the outro of their broadcast last night. I didn't catch the connection at the time, I just thought about how Liverpool fans would hate that song after that game.
I’ve been rickrolling my scouser mate with the happy days theme tune.
I highly recommend it whilst they’re still seething.

I have an important meeting with a client tomorrow, who's a Pool supporter. Debating if I should wear my Spurs shirt or not.

Wear something really subtle so that he cant call you out on it and if so you can easily just say "What you on about you weirdo? I am professional"

Or keep dropping the word VAR into random sentences. "Oof its a bit VARm today isnt it?"

Then when he tries to call you out pretend he is being paranoid

Well you have to remember that none of Perisic, Johnson or Gil were available.

We needed to stretch the block yet the only options Ange had were Veliz and Solomon.

2 young players who prefer to cut in.

Against Sheff Utd, Ange brought on Perisic and had him hug the left with Udogie making underlaps.

He had Johnson hug the right with Deki going inside and staying there.

Those changes led to Johnson's disallowed goal and us then winning the game cause we started to really stretch them.

We didnt have those options and all Ange could do was bring on more midfielders.

Son and Maddison were also carrying niggles which further limited us.

We quite simply were left with not many options to go around them and stretch them
I'm not asking for personnel changes. I just think it was fairly obvious that the correct way of playing the situation up two men was having fullbacks overlap and hug the touchlines, not having them both inverted into the most congested part of the pitch when our two wingers were already inverting/dribbling inside every single time. It made the job impossible for us.

Wouldn't put anything past this team this season. We could do anything. Hope this feeling lasts for the rest of the season as I saw the stat on sky showing we had as many points at this stage last year and finished 8th.
the diference is all those points were against teams we should have beaten. We are + 6 in terms of points from United and Liverpool Home and Arsenal away. this was the point it nosedived last year when we ran into the big boys. We have already played 3 of them this time and we are still up there.

During the Arsenal match I thought Sarr was struggling but something was obviously said and he suddenly grew into the game and was excellent. The same with Udogie. On Saturday I thought VDV was having a difficult time initially and then a switch was flicked and then he was bloody brilliant. I want to believe this was Ange‘s doing, that he is capable of these in-match tweaks that make such a difference.
He has certainly turned Porro into an absolute beast - not a full back, not a wing back but something completely new and innovative.

Surely nailed of for MOTM again isnt he? Look at this form compared to the others AND consider who we have played.
