Now - I think Bissouma's red was legit (just based on the current slo-mo VAR) - but if Spurs were smart, they should appeal it. There really is no downside - even if they tacked on another game, he is still going to be at AFCON.

But, I would show up with video of all the questionable tackles made against Spurs this year - and point out, if none of them were worthy of a RC, then surely there is nothing in the Bissouma card - and certainly not as reckless or dangerous as the many times Spurs players have been kicked.

Its time for someone - Ange, or someone with Spurs - to start pointing out the discrepancies.
I don't think whataboutery is the basis for a solid argument. Especially where there have been at least 2 fouls that could have seen Romero red carded and he wasn't..

Oh - it won't result in overturning the red.

But what you want is for the officials to start paying attention when your players are getting hacked - and Spurs have been getting hacked a lot.

Its one thing to be nice when a bad call goes against you - but the reason why you see Liverpool and Arsenal get as many call as they do - its because the managers are on the refs to look for those fouls.

Oh yeah, I agree with you. I get why it's a red, and I can understand it being given. I guess the point I've been trying to make is that, it wasn't a malicious, ill-disciplined tackle, it was late and looked bad.

The inconsistency in refereeing is a massive problem. Murrilo should have seen red, Forest don't get the cards they should have earlier in the game.

Watching the West Ham game now, no idea how Coufal didn't get a red, etc.

you need to watch it again - this time without the spurs glasses on.

Ange has got us fighting for everything so it will result in some red cards as a result. The intensity in the press has gone up, players want to win the ball even when it's a less than 50/50 one. The truth is we became more aggressive under Poch as well but it lead to us having our best years. It's difficult to play this tempo and be this aggressive without getting red cards. I'd rather go down swinging though over what we've seen the last few years.

Romero should have been booked but Forest should have had a player sent off and Yates should have been booked earlier. The issue is consistency which VAR should have helped but it feels like the officials now have more influence than 10, 20, 30 years ago .,.,,,,, I never remember moaning about the officials in the 80s and 90s despite Gazza being a straight red ……….. mark my words …… Ange is bringing the FA Cup home …..

Can't speak out about the 80s but I remember lots of moaning about officails in the 90s. The one that sticks out (due to being the first FA Cup Semi Final as a Spurs fan) was V Arsenal, we lost 1-0 and they scored from a free kick that never should have been given and Sheringham should have had a penalty.

Edit: Not that I am bitter or anything.

I remember Merson pissing me off with his celebration at the end … the Mendes goal was the first time I was ever really pissef off with the officials

Nah, there are plenty of big decisions before then, like Fashanu's elbow on Mabbutt, fracturing his cheek bone and eye socket and Fashanu didn't even get a yellow.

Agree, I was there that night - just feels like it was a men’s game in that era, rather than a Yates waving an imaginary card around

I remember the 91 Cup Final as Pearce and Pat went into a 50;50 and everyone held their breath

Could we resume discussing Ange instead of poor refereeing decisions in this thread, please. 🙏
A separate refereeing thread would be a lovely place for us to vent.

For us to be six points from top having lost arguably our most important player of the last thirty years during the summer- and then losing two of our most important new players to injury - is incredible. All the while playing the best football we have seen for years. What a job Ange has done.

It’s still early days but I can’t remember enjoying following us this much since the first couple of Pochettino seasons. And actually the football and results are better than Poch’s first season.

Ange has that thing which Jol, Redknapp and Pochettino had. He just feels like the right fit for the club.

I think Jol was right at the time. Redknapp I never truly liked, I'll never forget the season where we were 3rd until he started whoring himself for the England job and the wheels subsequently fell off (although singing Ryan Nelson may have also had an impact on that downfall).

Poch was a true feel-good period where he seemed perfect for us. I daresay Ange even more so.

I've never known someone to be able to talk so much sense and just say the perfect thing at the right moment.

I also have my problems with Redknapp but I think undeniably we played some of the best, most exciting football any of us have ever seen as Tottenham fans.

It’s true we also had some of the greatest ever Tottenham players at the time but Redknapp immediately turned things around when he came in and we were pretty consistently great for a few seasons. We should have won something but those were still really fun, enjoyable years to be a Spurs fan.

What gives me a lot of hope now is Ange seems to be a combination of all the best parts of Jol, Redknapp and Poch. He’s got the personality of Jol, the buccaneering football of Redknapp and the pressing and organisation of Poch.

I feel the same about poch, when he started flirting with the idea of managing Madrid. then the wheels started falling off

I'm still double fucked off with the 'mutual holding' call against Son in the penalty area.

even if you think it is not enough for a penalty mutual holding it most certainly was not.

i can't lie the way we are being officiated this season is giving me the raging hump regardless of result.
