Honestly though it is dangerous to not allow any questioning of Ange is selection or tactics it doesn’t mean you want him out if you just question some of the choices it’s ridiculous at the moment.

I am loving his style of play and the way we are playing but it’s okay to suggest we can improve and do things better, as at times we are really naive.

He’s also not very good at in game management it’s very much plan an and roll and that’s fine when it works but in this league they work you out.

Brighton did this excellently

it all started with :

Steele the keeper picked on purpose as he has a longer kick to pile the pressure on our defence he’s instructed to hit it over our defence and turn us towards our own goal at every chance.

this worked amazingly.

next which was brave by de Zerbi was to get the wingers and players from Brighton to stretch the width exploiting our full backs going in field very clever it also worked with them getting joy down our flanks.

next he instructed his dribblers to run at us and be direct also worked as we had full backs at centre half

All of this way easy to see Ange should also be seeing it and altering things in the game to stop the dominance and he didn’t.

that’s not good enough

Nothing wrong with analysis, but let’s be honest if De Zerbi was here he would be massively criticised too. How do I know that? Because we have cycled through Redknapp, Pochettino, Mourinho, Conte etc all of whom have been found wanting. So it’s nice admiring these coaches from afar but as soon as for example De Zerbi was here it would be a different story.

What most of us are saying is be reasonable and look at the bigger picture. Look at the context and the direction we are moving in. You are free to analyse how well the team did with the majority of its spine out injured, although personally I find that pointless. Just be aware most of us won’t buy into the sweeping generalisations of some of the more negative posts because we are enjoying the football for the first time in years.

The facts of it are we have an unprecedented injury/suspension problem all at the same time. The 2 also go Hand in hand - would vdv have done his hammy if we still had 11? Who knows but unlikely!
Same with bookings/sendings off if we had the strongest team on the pitch where players have confidence in each other - far less cards are given because the players are happier to pass players on and know that if they are beaten there is quality covering them.
I truly believe we would be top or certainly very close to top if we had not suffered like we have

He was playing for Leicester. Pretty sure he was 20/21 when he returned and got a spot on the bench for us.

He left Leicester on 30 June 2013. He was 19.

He broke through to the first team in the 2013/14 season, so he'd have been what, 21, 22?

His DOB is 28 July 1993, so he'd have been 20.

You know, one of these days I'm going to invent something that will settle these pointless Internet arguments by having all the facts you need to hand. It'll be like an encyclopedia, but it will contain information on really important stuff like football and music, not just boring stuff like history and science. I'll name it after the discussion we've had. It'll be the 'What is Kane's age' encyclopedia, or WIKApedia for short. It'll go down a storm, I reckon.

All things considered, Ange Postecoglou is doing very well. Also he's not a cry-baby about the difficulties he and the squad are facing at present. Nor does he trot out a number of excuses, perhaps because he assumes the club supporters understand the situation and that he, the support staff and the available players are doing their best. And despite all that's been unfolding these last two months, Spurs are still up there and mixing it with other clubs in the Premier League. This challenging time that Spurs face will pass as existing and also new players become available.

I very nearly looked up his DOB but then realised that I'd have to do very basic maths to work out his age, so couldn't be bothered.
I actually got his breakthrough year from Wiki but basic maths is where I draw the line! 😁

Weren’t Dier and Dele both playing in the first team at 20?
I haven’t looked to confirm , just a guess

I think Dele may have been younger.
It's not really true at all when people say that we never play youth.
Lennon and Bentelab also spring to mind and I'm sure there are plenty of others but I wouldn't say that if a player hasn't broken through at 20, they should be written off, nor should they expect to.

He was elite, generational tho. Not a sign of toxicity. At least that’s what my 11 year old son says (he lives with his mum in Sidcup) and like a Labrador can hear injuries from thousands of miles away.

SC bingo full house. 😂
Not quite a full house as he's 11 till he's 12 but good attempt.

I think the thing is that you do appear to be one who's straight and criticising him, like straight in and it feels like often, without any real consideration to the overall situation.

When you look at the fit and available options he had available to him last night, there really wasn't much else he could do.
I know that you're beating the "throw the youth in" drum but I'm not convinced that won't do more harm than good.
Nobody is above being criticised but sometimes it feels somewhat relentless and ignoring the full picture because the bloke is trying to work with the bare bones of the squad and let's be honest, he's probably still trying to gauge some of them.

I can take it. I don’t disagree or neg often, as everyone is entitled to their opinions.
Well, that's not quite true because you often disagree and neg but you're usually oblivious to it because you have fingers like King Charles! ;)🤣

I have no idea if Ange has an issue with playing younger players or if they’d make a difference instead of what he’s currently doing.

I guess most expect a manager with his squad predicament to be more pragmatic, and tweak the overall style to be a bit more organized defensively, and to adjust the line to sit deeper. But obviously the idea of doing so repulses him.

Does that equate to losing games? That’s speculation. I think we saw against Wolves what happens when we take that approach.

Bottom line is that he is in a lose/lose situation. Never, in all my years supporting Spurs seen us missing so many players at the same time. EG; Against Bournemouth we will be without: Skipp, Kulu, Benta, Biss, Sess, Romero, VdV, Perisic, Solomon, Maddison. It’s insane.

We will lose to Bournemouth. I absolutely expect that. Two days more rest, a fully fit squad, against a MASH unit, and those that are ‘fit’, as we saw yesterday, are dead on their legs. Plus, Ange won’t suddenly revert to being cautious. So, I expect the opposition will have a field day.

I can accept us losing that game. What’s a real bummer though is that we have the same squad issues vs Burnley in the FA cup. And I’d like to see us try to go on a run. But, holy hell. I do not envy Ange whatsoever.
