I'll think twice about posting an opinion on here next time.
Don’t. I always enjoy reading your opinions even when I disagree with you.

I guess to a certain extent, unless you have a lot of depth in the squad then the only other option is to follow a model like Sevilla who clearly see that competition is the priority. That won't happen with us.We haven't won the Europa , we won the UEFA. A lots changed since then. We also have had plenty of Europa games as a measure to go on. We've been knocked out by plenty of teams we should have beaten in that competition. In the CL we've been knocked out by far better teams. At the end of the day we have very minimal chance winning either so we are better off going after the big one.
Sevilla do what they do because they are in La Liga, and there are only two teams in contention in that league. The Premier League different. Anything can happen.
We are absolutely NOT going to aim for a Sevilla model. That means becoming surrender monkeys, rolling over and dying as a club.
Like every team in England, at a minimum we should be busting a gut every year to get into the Champions League. The Europa League is just a consolation competition for teams we aspire to be better than.
Absolutely, but that isn't the discussion we have been having. If we're in Champions League we go for it.
If we're in Europa League we go for it.
If we're in Conference League? You guessed it. We go for it.
Wherever we end up we should be pushing to win the competition. Sick of not taking the bottom two seriously.
Why won't we spend it? We have pretty much always spent whatever we have brought in.Why? If we aren't going to spend the money to buy players like Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool do and challenge them, all CL qualification does is just get more revenue for Levy that we won't spend anyway
Because Levy, or something like that. Why won't we spend it? We have pretty much always spent whatever we have brought in.
I agree. We should aim to go as high as we can, and IF we end up in one of those two then we should still be taking them seriously. Especially as Europa is another route to Champions League. I'm just sick of us as a club (and fans) saying we want trophies but dismiss certain competitions because it doesn't suit them.Absolutely, but that isn't the discussion we have been having.
I've seen it suggested a few times by different posters that they'd prefer for us to be in the lesser competitions because they are easier to win and we'd have more chance of doing so, and that's what I am arguing against. If that's where we end up then we absolutely should try and win them, but we should be doing everything we can, to finish as high as we possibly can, to compete in the best competition that we can the following year.
Agree. For me, it’s simple.I agree. We should aim to go as high as we can, and IF we end up in one of those two then we should still be taking them seriously. Ange said in the presser that he doesn't subscribe to these views anyway and that the key thing is are we progressing in the right direction, if as he said he sees signs that we are progressing in the right way then he doesn't care if we finish 5th, 4th etc as we should be aiming for 1st, 4th is not and should never be the goal which essentially comes back to what the @easley91 said above which is whichever competition we are in we should be going all out to win it, simple as that, this is the mentality the club needs.Absolutely, but that isn't the discussion we have been having.

Weren't we the biggest spenders of all teams in the last transfer window in Jan?Why can't we afford to spend like Liverpool or Arsenal do then? We seem to be quite ambitious and take risks when it comes to financial/business ventures when it suits ENIC but funnily enough we can't ever take risks when it comes to the footballing side.

Still £35-40 million more than our rivals spent. You specifically asked "Why can't we afford to spend like Liverpool or Arsenal do then?", but as far as I remember they didn't spend anything in the last window which contradicts your point. We spent around £35-40 million on three players. Hardly a massive spend is it?
That's a completely different question though isn't it. Enic and Levy not spending their own money is very different, to your first allegation that if we got CL, Levy wouldn't spend the extra revenue gained from the competition. Why can't we afford to spend like Liverpool or Arsenal do then?
