Anyone confused by Ange's comments, listen to minutes 10-11.30, he spells it out pretty well, also the bit about Romero at the end touches on the overall 'growth'.

100% this and also as you say its his first season so of course there will be tweaks and improvements needed this summer onwards, Ange will know this.
We need only 4 points from our remaining 5 games to match Poch's first season, which was also a transition year with a new manager implementing a new style of play. Our goal difference is currently 10 better, with 9 more goals scored so far, so we should be relatively content on that front too. If anything, Ange is doing better, because he inherited a team that finished 8th last season, while Poch inherited a team that had finished 6th.
We improved significantly in Poch's second & third seasons, as players adapted to the system and a the squad was bolstered with well-suited signings. I don't see why we can't do the same under Ange.

I don't like this attitude from people nowadays. Seems patience has disappeared from the human thinking. Goodness knows how they cope with live in general if they need everything instantly.
I'm really glad i'm my age and can cope with the ups and down of living. I know I may not be here in 5/10 years time but I just make the most of what life throws at me.

Often wonder how today's social media fan base would have coped if this seasons results under Ange mirrored 1964/5 season under Billy Nick, brilliant home record but pathetic away with just the one win, four draws and sixteen defeats. Just imagine the mickey taking and the constant punditry telling Bill how he should set up away from home.

Behave.

Compare Pochs first eleven for that season Vs Anges.

Our squad this season would absolutely destroy the squad that Poch inherited.

Poch didn't have 250m to spend either.

I’m actually confident and calm with the thought of seeing what Ange can do here long term.

My big worry is the summer window to be honest. That list Matt Law peddled there is underwhelming to say the least. I refuse to believe we mess up this key window though, lessons learned and all that.

With how we approached and executed on the Bergvall deal, I highly doubt that all of our true targets are known to media/journalists. Excited to see who else we sign in the summer.

The league is tougher now though so hard to compare. There is no doubt though you have to back the manager unless things turn toxic. I can't see Ange losing the dressing room though. It will just come down to results and he would need to fall down pretty far to make change. Top 6 is perfectly fine for a first season where we had to rebuild and lost our world class striker.

Ange: "3 nil down at half-time. The game could have gone very easily a different way, but it didn't. I love the spirit this group shows in the face of adversity. Top of my list is creating an environment, a football team, and a style of football that will win us things and we're on our way to doing it."

I'm on for the ride. I love his focus and determination and where his priorities are. Yeah, it's not fun to concede and lose, and it hurts but keep building.

The sad thing is when you expect instant results what you usually get is the opposite.

I totally agree with you, I think we’re conditioned these days to hone in on the next high, the next crisis, the next event we can feel emotive or outraged about. And I think we as Spurs fans have become addicted to the sugar rush of appointing the next guy who will solve all our problems.

There have been lots of valid and intelligent and reasonable criticisms of Ange. But we’re 5th in the table during his first season and the poor bloke had his player sold on the weekend of the start of the season. So I’m not even sure major patience has even been required yet.

In virtually 99% of seasons since the PL began, 5th would be a great season for Spurs. I think other than Poch we have only finished higher than that three times- once under Conte and twice under Redknapp.

Poch started his first season with a squad including (among others):

Lloris
Vertonghen
Kaboul
Dier
Walker
Rose
Dembele
Eriksen
Lamela
Kane

You really think our current squad would “ absolutely destroy” that lot?

Are you talking about the developed players or the players they were when Poch inherited them?

He is getting frustrated and it's showing in his answers
I'm not surprised, he is being asked the same questions over and over. He has answered them so many times that I know exactly what he is going to say. But the journo's want a different answer to fit their agenda.
It's draining
