All the spurs journos now coming out criticising the club and paratici in particular. Two examples here.

Good to see those connected to the club, are beginning to realise the time for excuses is over.

Many are close to reaching breaking point & this window is pivotal to summer conclusion, as we need to lay some foundations.

I mean, we have always acted this way in the transfer market. Not sure why Paratici is being scapegoated. Even if we got the worlds best DoF, I feel our approach would be the same, because no matter what you do, the direction is set from above.

I think the strategy of having multiple deals lined up ready to pull the trigger on was something Romario (former poster, since banned) may have just made up. It hasn't been proven to be accurate in reality.

That said, for some reason I'm still hopeful we'll bring in a couple of good players- he can't leave Conte high and dry surely?

Well we had multiple deals lined up and pulled the trigger to drop them all for someone who's joining Liverpool. That kinda fits the description.

Yeah ever since the Adama deal went sour, I have noticed a lot of people going in hard at Paratici.
He’s not exactly pulling up trees to be fair. The failure so far on outgoings is a bigger issue than the incomings I think

I don't blame him for the outgoings. We are stuck in a middle ground where they can't go to top tier teams as they aren't good enough, but they also can't go to teams just outside the top tier due to the wages they are on. Makes things rather difficult.

Still a few days to go to redeem himself and then probably a better time to judge the windows success. As it stands I feel no loss on missing out on Traore, disappointed we did not get DV, but he stayed in Italy with a Behemoth and that may always have been his plan and I know little about Diaz, but think Pool may have acted because we did and they are currently a bigger draw. Lets see who we end up with over and pass judgement then, suspect they all knew it would come down to the last few days, which makes me wonder why they dont just open the window for a week and not a month where three weeks generally produce little activity.

Think it’s pretty fair & valid. He’s been brought into change the setup and decisions… and what’s changed? 28 days into the window and we’ve accomplished nothing. What was being lined up and worked on in the months between September and now?

Improved phone contract?

His share of the deals that there's no way he wasn't aware Mendes was going to be part of/involved with?

I've always thought not being able to shift players was a strange criticism, apart from giving players away you need someone willing to take them. If I was in charge of recruitment somewhere I wouldn't be touching Ndombele or Dele at the moment.

Why all the knee jerking about Paratici today?

I do have my reservations about him but surely we should wait until end of next summer to properly judge him?

Having targets stolen by Barca and Liverpool is nothing shocking or new really, we are only just starting to fish in their ponds.

Paratici when interviewed said he was brought in to build something long term and he stays at clubs for 5+ years, so far I don’t think he’s been an unmitigated disaster.

Pros:
-Romero signing
-Persuading Conte mid season and acting before Man.U
-Sarr supposed to be a big talent has been signed to join in summer

Cons:
-Gil looks poor so far albeit raw
-Gollini looks poor albeit only on Loan as a back/up gk so not end of the world
-Emerson looks ok and is only 22 I think but was signed as a RB not a RWB

Neutral:
-Has seemingly from the outside been outmanoeuvred by Barca and Lpool on two main targets but still 3 days left of the window where most activity is done so let’s see how we end up.

Spot on as the jury has to be out on him at the moment because there isn't enough time to see what he does and what he has done turns out. For me, Gil and Emerson should be in the neutral column. With regards to Gil, how many his age play with that fearlessness against any and everyone? We have too many players who play best when playing safe. That's great in defense but not helpful in attack especially against park the bus teams. Emerson is young and while i don't harbor any illusions that he will come good at RWB, FP can't be blamed for that as he was provided for a different system of play.

Where he does get a massive vote of no confidence was the manager fiasco. We don't know what happened behind the scenes but Nuno was at best burnt out.

The fact that our backup target for a LW is a RW is just stupid and weird. Panic stations at Spurs so he goes back to his old club Juventus desperately trying to get Kulusevski and Bentancur over the line. This guy has zero strategy, no idea how to build a squad properly.

I'm a bit disappointed in him. He's had all month to try sign players and now it seems he's panicking and trying to beg his old club for players.

Yeah and if Romero comes back healthy and plays fantastic and together with Kulusevski takes us to a top 4 finish, they’ll all be knobbing Paratici off again. It’s all just noise.

These guys are good for news, I’m not reading them for their opinions.

You could also spin that to say that we have multiple WF targets and had a plan depending on which one would come in. And good on him for utilising his former connections to try and sign two players who would improve on our current squad.

Doesn't seem like this is an overly critical appraisal of the situation to be honest. We're in a bit of a shit state, the window has been terrible for us given our aims at the start of it and they've reflected that

I think it’s because they can clearly see what is going to happen in the near future and are frustrated like us that they can’t do anything about it.

Not sure you can hang him for no strategy while having Kulusevski ready to go as an option post Diaz. One of Diaz/Son was going to play RW so you're arguing semantics there.

A bit of a shit state? We past the “bit” part loooong ago. That ship sailed circa 60 months ago

Fair point. I appreciate its also January so its difficult to implement a cohesive strategy. Part of it is about getting what we can on loan to help Conte until the end of the season. However, I stand by my criticisms of his squad building ability.

I think questions of him are completely fair, just didn't think having an immediate backup to a deal was one to use against him.
