I had a chant ready made for him once he got to the training ground ?

Losing Frank Arnesen - the man who got us Martin Jol - to Chelsea was a big blow for us. And at the same time an hugely important move by Chelsea and Abramovich. Arnesen never got the chance to really put his stamp on our club before he was lured away, as Chelsea did more or less what they always do: take them on Abramvich´s yacht and throw money at him - without asking the club (us) first.I think we just all need to calm down about that. The needs of his current team aren’t the same as ours. We all got worked up about Arnesen, Baldini, etc.

I think a lot of the revision of Arnesen's time here forgets where we were as a club at the time. With a zero net spend his signings and hiring of Jol took us from lower mid table to 5th best in the country. Signings like Carrick were great and made a big profit but even the smaller signings like Sean Davis, Pamarot, Ziegler etc brought us a small profit.
He also knew how to put a team together and the experienced signings of Davids and Naybet were good short term deals.
It was a huge challenge trying to take us into the top four and it saddens me that he left for Chelsea. Definitely my biggest 'what if' of the ENIC era.
Talk about Campos is interesting. He has bought top quality young players in France but integrating youth in the Premiership is much more difficult. As he is Mourinho's choice there is at least the heightened chance that the manager and sporting director will be working on the same page.
Campos. That's because the deal is going through tonight! (This is a joke btw)
The changes Arnesen and Comolli made behind the scenes were a massive part of our progress as a club and overlooked by people who want to focus on transfers.I do like the idea of us having a DOF again, I think it suits us as a club. Interesting debate over the last few pages on the success/failures of Arnesen, Commoli and Baldini.
I agree it can be argued that none of them necessarily brought us an absolute world beater all on their own (Bale perhaps?) however what I would say is it was consistent upgrades to the squad. Look at where we are now and where we were pre-Arnesen. Arnesen made the overall squad significantly better than it was when he joined and we progressed. With Comolli it was working forwards again, and I would say he left the squad again better than how he found it, and we progressed again. Then with Baldini, obviously having the Bale money made it more obvious in terms of expenditure, but again I would suggest that in my view at the end of his time the squad was once again in a better overall shape, and we progressed.
I do think a DOF is a good idea for us and one that has consistently improved us.
Julien Laurens usually pretty good, but strange that RTP suggest otherwise?Sources: Transfer chief Campos not set for Spurs

Whether we get him or not is one thing but to say we’re not interested is oddSources: Transfer chief Campos not set for Spurs

Also Monchi wasn’t a success at Roma. I’d be optimistic if we got him but I’m not convinced he would just automatically fix all that’s wrong with our transfers.Luis Campos would be exciting but also would remind me of Arsenal bringing in the Dortmund guy and that turned out to be a dud.

All speculation is pointless from these sources. We have had two separate ITK mention it now with one pretty confident it will happen. I believe this will be done and that Jose will push Levy into making it happen. It just makes sense, he works well on a limited budget and that is something we will have for a little while.
could you point me in the direction of the ITK please? I must have missed it.
FWIW!
Campos was sub-contracted to Lille. As I stated few months ago, always was going to end up here. Daniel Levy all for it. Let’s hope it is ratified sooner rather than later. Until it is announced we cannot say ‘done deal’ but looking that way
To add to the Campos news. I am not putting my nads on the line! As likely as it looks; as Jose wanted him months ago, and was told at the time we were trying to work it somehow. Let’s hope this transpires. My own opinion is it will eventually happen. But! My opinion!
