MANCHESTER UNITED fans have turned on Ashley Young, slamming his diving as a ‘disgrace’.

The Manchester United winger, 26, has faced a barrage of criticism for his blatant falls against both QPR and Aston Villa.

Even Old Trafford boss Alex Ferguson admitted that the England man ‘overdid’ his tumble against Villa on Sunday.

Club legend Bryan Robson believes his play-acting could cost United dear. And now fans have turned against the £16m former Villa star.

In a scathing editorial, influential fanzine Red Issue pilloried Young, slamming him for ‘his latest disgraceful dive’ and adds ‘diving is cheating’ and says his behaviour is a betrayal of the code of conduct instilled at Old Trafford by legendary boss Matt Busby.

The editorial quotes Busby’s saying: “If anything is to be gained from football, it is to be gained by winning or losing with dignity.”

For good measure, the magazine also describes former United star and Sky pundit Gary Neville’s attempts to justify diving and other forms of cheating as ‘depressing’.

This all seems fair enough to me, but I don't remember all these people condemning Cristiano Ronald when he wore their shirt and he's one of the most blatant cheats around?

Fair play to them. That's not the United way. Rooney, Nani or Ronaldo (for example) would never "play that way."

It's actually great to hear a manager come out and say they've had a word to a player over their diving.

Saying that the cynic in me tends to think that Fergies just told him to make it more believable next time.

Ronald was a teenager when he arrived at Man U. He WAS criticised by their fans at the time too. Ronaldo grew out if it.

Ronaldo didn't dive as much later on in his United days, he was more prone to rolling around after being touched than anything.

Very similar to Bale......
