No way Gordon. Edwards miles better. I am not sure about others - I happen to watch lot of his games in last year . He has improved incredibly well. He now uses his weakness as his stregths. His lack of physically means, he is now moving the ball much better, protecting the ball much better and learned to bounce off defenders and still go on.

I would be more than happy to see the double deal happen. It kind of fixes the right side and also ensures we have a good handle on Homegrown counts

Yeah he has definitely improved because he's actually had 2/3 years of consistent game time. His natural talent is unquestionable and he'd certainly give us more on the right when Deki is out or is rested. Could even play with Deki if you put Deki CAM and had Edwards on the right.

My only two question marks would be his attitude (coming back to London etc too) and also whether Conte would actually play him seeing as he's small and doesn't fit the typical Conte player mould.

Interesting as the journalist isn't quoting Portuguese papers. First time we have had that I think.

Personally I think it is the wrong move bringing these two in but what do I know. I would prefer Anthony Gordon to Edwards but I can see why financially we may go for our ex-player.

Edwards is more technically gifted player than Gordon and would be one of if not the most in our squad if he came but I agree with you. Gordon is a bit of a monster work wise, none stop defending and attacking and ball progression. I like Gordon he is a player who is always involved and always pushing the team forward.

No he had attitude problems, which he still has. Been told numerous times he's still turning up late for training and not doing what is expected of him on the outside. The fact they were offering him back to us tells me everything I need to know.
In game he looks exciting but I don’t see him being the kind of player that will fight for a starting spot. That coupled with his physicality and the info in your post makes this sound like a no go. I’m assuming it’s just paper talk.

This isn't a case of questioning ITKs, but I have heard nothing of this coming out of Sporting. Not disputing the problems he previously had at Spurs with us and Norwich etc of course, but everybody at Sporting loves him - especially Amorim. His time at Vitoria, the same. He really buckled down and looks to have left the attitude behind.

All I'll say on this is that some of my stuff comes from the club some from a fairly prominent agent. Agents talk and when one of their clients is a pain in the arse, they can be pretty forthcoming when in similar company.

Amorin did say this before our away fixture with them:

"He can still improve when it comes to his training, to his schedules and to keep up that high level daily, not only in matches but in his daily life when it comes to being a professional, but he is a happy kid. I see a very happy future for Marcus."

I would take a chance on him at around £25 million.. despite the reported attitude issues he still does the business for Sporting.. looks in shape, is small but is quick and strong. if we got him anywhere near his potential he would be a £60 million player.. Still young and hopefully maturing has so many qualities we lack in the squad.. If he has any sense at all he would grab the chance.. could we loan them Bryan Gill as part of the deal as he would probably develop very well there..

I don't buy the "he's too small for Conte" argument - this is a manager that's had title winning sides with Pedro or Alexis Sanchez on the wings and has built midfields around the likes of Barella and Kante. If he's got the technical skills, pace, work rate and strength to make up for the lack of height then he'll be just fine.

The attitude concerns described in the previous posts is a bigger problem though, if true then this is a non-starter. Hopefully it isn't as he'd tick pretty much every box otherwise - homegrown, point to prove, young(ish), offers a level of pace and dribbling ability that we simply don't have in the squad at the moment, and now seems to be adding end product to his game. We've been so boring to watch at times this season and this guy is a "bums off seats" player that would be able to open up these tighter games.

So a quote from Amorin himself saying exactly what I've said just nicer.

Conte won’t even be here in the summer & Poch likely will, therefore I can’t see it happening due to their history.

Edwards in 10x the player now than when Poch was here.. I get the attitude but it does not seem to have stopped him improving..

And you wouldn't be worried those issues wouldn't rise when he hooks back up with his London clique?

Steer well clear, I don’t get the impression he’s dying to return and it sounds like the lack of professionalism is still an issue
