RIP Martin Peters

I bought a ticket for the Ginola & Anderton wonder goals in our 2-0 replay win v Leeds in 1999, and was sat behind the directors box (surprised I wasn't ejected), as they where coming back from Half-time I saw him and said hello. I told him of 1 memorable pass I will always remember him for (I was only 9) and he cheekily replied "is that all you remember about me!". I was only a kid and think he went to Norwich the year after.

A true legend. Nicknamed the Ghost iirc, the best exponent of arriving in the box late to score or assist we ever had. Great passer as well. What Dele should aspire to be.

What sad news ? I had the privilege of seeing him play for Spurs, he really was a heck of a player.

RIP sir, thanks for the memories.

Lovely man met him years ago when he personally signed his autobiography as he was there on behalf of the company I was working for at the time I got to speak with him, a real gent no attitude or arrogance for being a world cup winner RIP Martin.

I was absolutely heartbroken when we swapped my all-time hero Jimmy Greaves for him.

Three years later I was at Old Trafford to see him score all 4 as we beat Man Utd (inc Law, Best & Charlton).

One of only two Englishmen to score in a World Cup final - that's some epitaph.

RIP '10 years', you were one of the greats.

I was also there that glorious day but didn't see the 4th goal until many years later via YouTube.
.
The Cockney Reds ran riot in the scoreboard end and the Lancs Police just stood and watched while we legged it.
.
Met MP in the Billy Nick Suite up in the West Stand about 1997 and we talked about that day he scored 4 at OT.
.
I was pretty sure to think he was amazed that I remembered that game above all the others including the
66 WCF.
.
RIP Sir Martin Peters. Memories.

I was there too, in the Stretford end, because we were late getting in. Martin was a terrific player, but a fantastic humble human being, who I had the honour and pleasure of meeting on several occasions.

RIP and thoughts to his family
