Didn't think we played terribly, but we were second best. And somehow I don't think anybody really stood out, I'll give it to PEH as he covered a lot of ground...Lloris was good too, Ndombele had his moments but ultimately no end product there either.

Strange game though. 20 minutes of all out sprinting which made us look better than we actually are, then slowly gassed out fitness-wise as Chelsea grew into the game. Ultimately though, just a corner kick and huge deflection away from staying competitive.

Dele my scapegoat for that woeful bit of set piece defense that possibly cost us the match. Kane also pretty useless yet again, hope he is just behind on fitness and match sharpness.

My own controversial view is that we shouldn’t overreact to this. This wasn’t getting outclassed by Crystal Palace over 90 minutes. It was getting outclassed by the European champions, and best team in the Prem at the moment, over 45 minutes, after a first half in which we did well and more than held our own. We simply aren’t at their level at the moment (very few are) and that would be the case had Pep or Klopp or anyone else taken over rather than Nuno in the summer. We need to retain the aggressive approach of the first half against non top 4 teams and points will flow from that if we do. What I won’t accept is going back to the negative, reactive approach from the Palace game.

I was impressed. Chelsea are basically the best team in world football and we did well. It certainly wasn't a borefest, we had a go and did quite well.

We were obviously going to lose this one and probably by this margin but we weren't powder puff, saw some nice things.

Time to concentrate on Thursday and build on a promising performance.

I must have been watching a different game in a parallel universe on another planet. We were utterly abysmal bar the first 20 or 30 mins.

We were beaten by a top 4 team. Sadly we are not in that bracket anymore and our squad is in no way comparable to the top teams who are now bigger, faster, and technically better than us.

Lloris 7
Royal 6
Romero 8
Dier 7
Reguilon 6
Højbjerg 7
Ndombele 6
Dele 5
Lo Celso 6
Kane 5
Son 5

Gil 6
Skipp 6
Sanchez n/a

Nuno 6 - Set us up really well and first 30 mins we were the better team. But no plan B and we were 2-0 down before he made any changes. He was hamstrung somewhat by injuries to Bergwijn and Moura.

So glad Dany Levy didn;t think we needed more players in the transfer window. And that he didn;t hire Conte. What a great footballing brain he has

And a skinny squad. They changed the game by bringing on kante

I didnt think the back 4 were that bad. Imo
It’s odd how last season everyone thought our centrebacks were the problem, now it’s the least of our problems. Perhaps as much to do with how Nuno sets us up as the personnel involved.

But what I wouldn’t give to still have Bale and Lamela on the bench.

Another game of 2 halves. I thought we were more or less even in the first with regards to performance and result, good game then. 2nd half we were shite, end of. Lloris my MOTM

Ndombele was the key for the first 25/30 mins.

Got us moving the ball around and forward. But after that he struggled and we couldn't do anything.

Lloris MOTM match for keeping it down to 3...

We expected a drubbing, and we got one. What is is there to say? We put up some fight in the first half but by the second, their quality told.

They are a much better team and squad than us and we have a ton of problems with key players. There was only ever going to be one result.

So in that context, I would say Romero looked like he'll be good. Son was dangerous in the first 45. Most of the team didn't play too badly. But we were, unsurprisingly, second best.

I'm glad Romero and Lo Celso got minutes. The next team is a lot easier.

Watched the game a few hours after kick off. It really is fun how much you see a match when you're not in the match thread. My god. And I'm one of you.

To the ratings: I thought Dier was phenomenal and my clear MOTM. He handled Lukaku very well through out the game, won a ton of headers unlike Romero and saved a ball on the line and commanding the back 4 really well. Unlucky with the Kante deflection.

Lloris 8 couldn’t do anything more, no chance with any of the goals

Royal 6 thought he looked okay, especially first half

Dier 8 mom for me, thought he led the line well highlighted by the freeze frame on Sky when he was telling PEH to push up and he didn’t which led to the second goal

Romero 7 looked okay, dealt with what he had to

Reguilon 5 caught out of position too often, distribution and crossing a worry, seems to have gone backwards

Hojbjerg 5 not at the races today, sitting too deep

Ndombele 7 thought he was looking okay, surprised to see him taken off

Dele 2 big problem. Should have been playing where lo Celso was. At fault for first goal (although dier did have his elbow on his shoulder when he came in)I don’t see where he fits into a team in any formation apart from floating off Kane.

Son 5 looked lively first half, stopped pressing in the second half and he became anonymous

Lo Celso 3 what exactly is he? Didn’t see anything today to make me think he’ll actually help us going forward

Kane 3 quite clearly not interested, major lack of service into him but even so he looked totally disinterested

Skipp 6 looked lively, done okay

Bryan 4 how much did he cost?
