Yeah but he did speak to Utd, and was never offered the job.
No way! Say it ain't so...but he's ours, and he loves us and he gets us, and he's magic, and blah, blah etc.

One of the snippets that many choose to forget ;)

Was this after we were the only team in PL history to not sign a player in the summer, and the team declined in basically exactly the manner he anticipated? No wonder he entertained the possibility.

I'm surprised he wasn't offered the job as they hired Ole, a manager who had a patchy managerial career up until that point.

Also, if I recall we were very protective of him at the time, to the point where our press officer wouldn't even allow a question asked about it in his press conferences.

Disagree with this. Absolutely if he wants to go there and we haven't even contacted him then that's a fair enough decision. However at the same time if spurs fans call him out for it then he just has to take it on the chin. He knows it carries an element of controversy so just accept it. Can't have it both ways.
His team leaking spin stories I think.

Pointless , he won't get the Campbell treatment and he shouldn't but I think he has ruined his legacy here and we're now going to move on. It's time to.

Look forward to hearing 'You're getting sacked in the morning " when he realises a squad of 93 and an interfering chairman isn't a recipe for success.

Indeed. Seems his media allies - no doubt led by Ballague - are doing a better job spinning his lines than Levy is in countering them. It's not exactly new that the club's PR is an absolute shambles and maybe not leaking stuff some of the more juicy stuff from behind the scenes could be seen as classy but it does seem odd for there to have been no attempts to leak anything to explain not even contemplating him for the job now.

He thought he was a shoo-in for the United job in particular. Hence his reason for pretty much downing tools and the increasingly sulky press conferences over his last 18 months. He didn't go to United because they weren't as keen as he thought - they had concerns over his ability at the highest level - and never made an offer. It was not his choice.
You're talking as if this is fact rather than opinion?

Do you have an insight into what happened from the Man Utd side?

Not at all, not when you put things in context at the time.

Broken promises, Poch was burned out, we all saw that.

Talking to a club isn't the same as interviewing for a post.

If Poch let people know he was speaking to UTD it was more likely to put on pressure on Levy to show he was on demand and could leave.

The fact that is clear for all to see is that Poch loves our club and was gutted to leave.

He was very clear that he wanted a painful rebuild. Since leaving in every interview he speaks highly of the club.

If you really think he was disloyal for talking to another club, when he had a good relationship with Fergie its a little odd, as it happens all the time.

Its not a case that he interviewed for the job and they turned him down so he came back. If so, you'd have a point.

I really think people need to go back and read some of the posts from Poch’s last year. His dinners with Fergie, his “I’m only the coach” press conferences, his stupid book, his inability to change a game or make a decent sub, etc.

I loved the man but very much rose tinted glasses in here.

I don't think anyone is arguing that things didnt go sour and he was burned out. It was clear.

But i have no issue with him having dinners with Fergie. Fergie is an icon in the game, so much knowledge there. He took a youth team to the title, rebuilt UTD on a couple of occassions, dealt with egos.

There's so much knowledge there that it'd be daft to turn down such an opportunity.

And it's not like he's pulled up trees since he left, either.

PSG isn't the easiest job for various reasons, but across his tenure their performances had more in common with his disjointed late-era Spurs team than his exciting early-Spurs team. Found this video quite a good summary of his time there, even if it was made by a foetus:
