In this interview, Mourinho actually confirms my perception of Depay when he arrived in Manchester, rather than dispelling it. ?

My opening remark: "The moment he arrived in Manchester I got the impression that money and fame had gone to his head"

Mourinho: "Sometimes they can go too early to the biggest clubs where they are not ready to cope with it. Where they are not ready to understand that in the biggest clubs there are internal competition, that you can not play all the time. That there are fantastic players to fight with you for a position. They can lose a little sense of reality and become a bit childish. Which is what happened."

Point taken that his attitude may no longer be an issue though.
He still played quite a lot though in 2015/16. 29 league apps and 45 in all comps. (I don't know minutes, that's simply Wikipedia basics).

I think it is easy to dismiss this link… we have Richarlison now etc. Most did that with Lenglet and now look. Was it Sport that broke that I can’t remember? Certainty the reports came out of Spain first rather than UK or Italy.

I do think that Conte will want more numbers to compete in all competitions. So far we have done one in one out with Richarlison and Bergwijn.

Perseonally I hope it’s a creative type like Maddison that could play in the son/kulu spot. Ideally I would like Scamacca too as a game changer sub, but that’s being too greedy I expect.

I actually like Depay, if he's an opportunistic signing and doesn't affect us signing another AM, then I'm all for it. But if he's the alternative to someone like Maddison, then no thanks.

Having an extra attacking body will just help massively with depth and the more depth we have the better we will be.

I've never seen him play on the right though so don't really see him replacing Moura as such. The only way I see it is if they use Son or Richarlison on the right when replacing Kulusevski and one of them or Depay on the left. Either that or Depay play central and 2 of Richarlison, Son or Kulusevski in support. We would just need to shuffle things but Richarlison and Son are versatile enough to play all front 3 roles, and Depay can play inside left or central so it's possible. We've also been linked with Lindergaard (as Jamie Redknapp calls him) who also plays inside left and of the 2 I think I prefer Depay who also covers centre forward. I guess you just have to look at it as a collective of attackers because they'll rotate in different positions. Son, Kane, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Depay, Moura is a strong 6 for a front 3 so essentially 2 per position. Replace Moura with say a Maddison and that's a really strong attacking 6 with a bit of everything to it.

The thing is he was in his early 20's, he's now 29. Did you not grow up at all during your 20's? Me at 22 and me at 29 were like different people maturity-wise
FWIW I'm not against this signing - merely acknowledging that his attitude / mentality let him down during his brief spell at Man Utd, so he wouldn't succeed in the PL if he repeated that approach. Circa £20m is a bargain for a player of his talent and I don't think Conte would approve this transfer unless he's confident about Depay's mentality.

Report didn’t actually say he turned us down exactly, but that he was waiting to see if an offer came from somewhere else where he was likely to get more gametime. One of six forwards that includes Kane, Son and Kulusevski who were so good together last year, plus a £50m Brazil international just signed, he perhaps feels like his minutes will be low.

Depay on a free would be a no brainer, bargain of the summer. Imagine having Kane, Son, Kulu, Richarlison and him as your forward options, would be the best attack in the league. Are there any solid links to him though? Paratici loves a free transfer...
