Who did you have in mind from the non-qualifiers?

Personally think Perez would be a very good signing. Seems a well-rounded player.

I didn't have anyone specific in mind but the thought was triggered by Lyon finishing bottom of their group who have Alexandre Lacazette and Nabil Fekir (currently injured I think) in their side and who DL knows from signing Clinton from.... Any side finishing 4th in their CL group may want to cash in on one of their assets, so there may be deals to be done whether from Lyon, Borussia, CSKA etc.

Perez is possible, not sure he's enough of a striker to be ideal for me as a Kane back up, so I'd worry if Kane was out for any length of time, atm we have Son or Clinton to cover which is 'ok' but neither ideal and imo Perez might also be 'ok' but not ideal rather than an upgrade on Son/Clinton as cover for Kane.

And I cannot see Harrison or Loft or Sterling from Spurs youth being cover for Kane this season or next, think all of them need much more experience and physical development, so we do need cover for the next 18 months as a minimum.

As Poch has said, it'll be difficult to get exactly what we need in January. I trust there is contingency in place.

We need another exciting striker up front, and to bring in Michy is not a bad choice. I was positive for it before he signed for Marseille, and I am Still positive now. We are always waiting too long. We will miss out if we don't sign him now. One of our competitors will sign him if we don't. We didn't take the chance last time, so Marseille signed him. Now it is time for us to act! We are starting to become a big club now.

If we sign Lacazette, I will never ever, ever, ever say one bad word about Levy again.

I was thinking about this the other day when the link came up again, and it occurred to me that if we had signed him instead of Marseille, that Kane may not have got the break and gone on to become the player he has, which obviously would have been a massivbe shame.

I'd take Lacazette every day of the week over Batshuayi even though he is out for a month. There is a huge disparity in talent between the two ... and a huge disparity in potential transfer fee.

it seems that the relationship between levy and lyon's president improved after the transfer of njie?
i wonder lacazette would be interested in joining spurs, but we managed to get lloris...
transfer fee is another issue though

I think after Thursday's performance we will have to sign someone special to be better than Njie for our system. His work rate is arguably higher than Kane's and was responsible for one of the best pressing from the front performances of the season.

Lacazette would be the best all round package, he's more than just a very good striker, he's a player who'll also create chances for others (nearly twice as many key passes and chances created as the other two (Bera/Batshu). Would be my choice of the three and he can genuinely play more than just CF and he works without the ball too.

Batshuayi would be my second choice, as a pure striker his chance/conversion rate is outstanding and I think he has the physique and athleticism for Poch to work on and round him off a bit more as a player maybe.

Lacazette is a bit small to cover Kane imo

As I said, Batshuayi's only marginally taller than Berahino but he's definitely got a stronger physique and his goal per 90 ratio pisses Berahino's, but Lacazette definitely has the better all round game of the three.

I personally don't feel we need to spend a fortune on a different type of striker, but if we are seriously considering these three, both Lacazette and Batshuayi represent much better value than Berahino.

No one has said we're considering Lacazette, I have no idea where this is coming from.

Anyone would love to have him, but he's probably out of our price range and to be honest, dealing with Aulas again should probably be avoided.

Me neither, but others on this page started talking about him so I just continued. He's had an indifferent start to this season so his stock may just have dropped a smidgen, where as Batshuayi's on fire so his will have risen. Bottom line, the difference in asking price for these two has probably got closer - the caveat being everyone knows Marseille are a financial basket case and Aulas is rarely bent over so it may not of got as close as we might hope. Not sure why he should be avoided though, him and Levy kissed and made up over N'Jie didn't they ?

ManU paying the ludicrous fee for Martial has helped none of us though.

I understand what you're saying, but I never talked about Berahino. We need a centre forward and Batshuayi is the best for that role. Lacazette may have a better all round game, but he's not as good as a CF
