You're not going to start arguing that Modric is a box-to-box player are you? While Jenas isn't one either necessarily, he certainly is more of one than Modric.

Look the main point of that post was to say that by putting Modric at LM we have the best of both worlds for the time being. We have him IN the team and Palacios partnered with someone who has proved himself a little more in a CM role. I agree that over the long-term, as in the next few years, Modric might turn out to be the better CM partner for Wilson, but right now, I'm more comfortable with someone like Jenas.

No, what would be the best of both worlds would be having Modric in the middle and Jenas covering on the left, for if, which he wouldn't, Modric couldn't cope. Of course I'm not saying Modric is box to box, but he's happy to work hard, and offers something going forward as well. Jenas just doesn't.

Yep. JJ was a mainstay in the two top 5 league midfield pairings we had. And people forget he scores more than most midfielders in the Prem.

Yeah, a massive tally of 1 this season isn't it?

By that argument Gibbsy Zokora should be starting in the middle with Zokora ahead of anyone else, as they finished 5th? Yeah right.

Jenas offers nothing going forward? then why, when he has been injured for much of the season, has he scored more league goals?

JJ on the left is a good idea? Really?

Jenas OUTSCORES Modric in the PREM, compared to Modric in the CROATIAN league. JJ is an attacking midfielder that has been forced into a defensive role to cover for who...MODRIC.

Modric has to be 15 yards out because his shot is so weak it may not even reach the goal.

Where did I say he was POOR? I said he wasnt any better than Malbs. And i was proved right beyond any shadow of a doubt as Malbs has NINE ASSISTS this season.

WE DID NOT NEED HIM. Was my wholllllleeeeee argument. And it was a waste of money...was my WHOOOOOLLLEEE argument.

Modric is a good player, in the wrong team, in the wrong league.

On league form only...
In 2008/2009 malbranque
25 games
8 Assists
1 goal
27 team goals
33% individual contribution rate

In 2007/2008
37 games
4 assists
4 goals
66 team goals
12% individual contribution rate

This year - Modric
22 appearances
6 assists
1 goal
28 team goals
25% individual contribution rate

So Modric is twice as important to tottenham than Malbranque was last season. But Malbranque is nearly 3 times as important to the team this season.

So what is the conclusion to this....PHECK ALL. Different clubs, different seasons, playing with different systems, different players, different managers

Waste of time usign stats as an argument in this context they mean pheck all.

Bwahahahaha. Now show me some Prem stats. 6 assists...hahaha.

http://search.espn.go.com/luka-modric/

And he got 2 assists recently. Since we...you know..bought a ton of players.

So are we jus ignoring Modric's input in cup competitions. 'Malbs' has nine assists. Oh that unequivocally tells us that he is better. Football really works like that. Mug.

But Modric is a very notional LM indeed—given that on Monday he was winding up in the centre (not to mention out on the right) most of the time, and will continue to do so if he's allotted a free role, you're leaving a very large hole where the LM normally goes. Not only does that leave BAE facing a two-on-one, it also means he daren't press too far forward.

Malbranque's stats do show that he's done more for his team though, without the £16m price tag.

I do like Modric, but the creaming over him is embarrassing, he has delivered one or two really good performances, I expect more.

It's funny how those performances seem to tally with the teams better performances and when Modric plays in his proper position.

Malbs hasnt been given prime positions like Modric, given set pieces over and over like Modric, given easy cup opposition, had a team molded around him and didn't cost us 16 million.

Yet he has the highest midfield assist rate in the Prem.

No one can argue with me on this one. BEST ASSIST RATE IN THE PREM FOR A MIDFIELDER.

And Malbs does not leave gaps the size of Gibralter in teh midfield. Or force us to buy back 3 players and spend more than any team in Jan.

I was right... I WAS RIGHT. Modric hasn't worked out, has been banished to the left and he hasn't played as well as Malbs.

I

WAS

RIGHT

hahah...love it. GET IN!!!

YOU GOTTA TRUST OLE GIBBSY!!!! HOW CAN YOU NOT!?!?!?!

But seriously, Modric CAN work, as long as Palacious and JJ remain in the middle.

Malbs raped Modric at the lane. They were opposite each other. Modric was steamrolled. Malbs got MOTM, at the lane. Sunderland beat us...Malbs even hit the post. Remember..Malbs can crack em, Modric can't.

My thread about it was locked because you all can't handle the truth.

Someone who has to write I am was right three times is obviously insecure and rightly so as he knows next to nothing about football other than how to quote stats. You must be at a stretch 12 years old.

I was right.

When I posted that thread, Malbs was STILL WITH US.

And I said it spelled the end for Malbs with the purchase of Modric. A month later, Malbs gone for peanuts.

I'm insecure? And a child? You are the one calling people names, I am talking about football.

I was right.

How were you right other than proving that you are, to put it mildly, an immature, reactionary, ignorant, naive, attention-seeking, pitiable and petty person?

Malbranque has had a good season. Good he is a good player but if you cannot even see the mitigating circumstances not to mention the class that Modric oozes when in his best position, then you don't deserve to be a spurs or football fan. Be a fucking boring data analyst or train spotter.

So many reasons for that it almost isn't worth going into. 1. We played with 2 strikers who were an effective partnership, 2. We played with 2 strikers, 3. The movement was much better

To be honest you could have put Kaka or Xavi in the same role as Modric this season and in that 4411 formation and I doubt they would have been any more effective. Of course you would probably have shifted them out to the left when we finally play with 2 up top and said they don't offer enough strength in the middle.

This thread is about Modric being a good option in the middle of midfield.

And me being light hearted about people saying he can boss the midfield with his presence and tackling ability.

I don't take myself that seriously.
