With Harry's future being discussed around the England job in the not so distant future, I believe we have to accept that regardless of the circumstances, Harry has only one or two years before he's off. I think he's committed to the cause, but he only sees it as a short term project. Maybe his age plays a pivotal factor in his plans.

We have speculated about Mourinho coming to spurs on and off, with rival fans laughing off any suggestion. But, respect to Harry and the board, our status has dramatically changed. Our squad is recieving large amounts of respect now, regardless of being in the champions league. We are a team that is seriously in contention for top 3 or 4 status now, with Arse and Pool hitting dead ends.

Now, Mourinho is 100% Premiership bound in 1 or 2 years time. If he had his way he would be here now.
I seriously believe that we have everything as a club that he desires and the timing looks like it will all fall in to place perfectly.
Harry will be gone, he will have progressed us from our current status among the top teams, the squad is very impressive, the board have lots of money and back the manager, we are in London (a very underestimated factor) and by the time Jose becomes available we will be suitably in a position to privide him with just the kind of challenge he thrives on - making that final progression as a title challenger and champions league force.

If I was Levy I would be working my nuts off to Kay this plan out and plant the seed for what could be a real future.

Levy once said that he wanted to sign his own Klinsmann, this would be it. Jose Mourinho.
Personally, I don't think that the other clubs around us provide Mourinho with the challenge or tools for what he needs. Resources, the challenge and the lifestyle. Inc. Man Utd.

I think he'll come back to England after he's won the CL with Real. He's won the Champion's League with a Portugese team, with an Italian team and is well placed to win it with a Spanish team. But he never managed to do it with an English team.

Sadly though, if Sheikh Mabooty is still around at that time, he'll be offering Mourinho £4squillion a week to join City.

The only thing that worries me about Mourinho is that his teams tend to be not great to watch. Would we sacrifice flowing football for trophies (given the choice?)??

There is no way on earth Mourinho would take the Spurs job. I hate to break it to you but we are a small club. We have qualified once for the CL, we haven't won the league in 50 years and haven't even looked like challenging for it for 20. He would have his pick of any job in world football why would he come to us?

If I could have the choice, I'd love it if we had Guus Hiddink as our manager.

Mourinho does seem to like Spurs, but like others have said, there will be several clubs ahead of us if and when he leaves Real Madrid.

Er, he went to Chelsea didnt he? I mean they're a small club with fuck all history who hadnt won the league since the dinosaurs arent they - its just they had an oilgarch willing to splash the dirty cash.

I don't think the FA will pick Harry.

We'll have Harry until he retires, by which time Sherwood should be ready to take over.

If I had a choice of manager though, I would go for Pep Guardiola. It's every bit as unlikely as Mourinho so while we're dreaming i'll go with him instead.

I think that Utd are the front runners for him, but they may not want him! He does like a challenge and what bigger challenge that winning the league with us! He wants to be mentioned in the same breath as some of the best managers ever and he would further enhance his own ego and reputation by being successful with us. Remember that the set up to be a top top club is at Spurs. Levy and the club are doing everything they can with the training complex, new ground and a team of potentially very good players that any manager would want to be part of, also the lure of London and an area he and his family know could be a big factor. Harry keeps throwing his name in for the England job and before he retires I don't think that any of us would begrudge him that chance. As long as we can keep improving then we are a very attractive club. Mourinho would also love to get one over on Chelsea ater they got rid of him so by joing us he could in time do that. As someone else mentioned I do get the feeling that he has a little bit of love for Spurs and respects our history. Maybe if things work out he could end up being a big part of it.

Following Fergie will be about as big a challenge as you could get in a manager's job...

At the time he was at Porto, yes he had won the CL and Uefa, but now he is the hottest property in world football (management).

Yes we are a pretty big club in England but not in world football. Kids in Brazil don't go to sleep dreaming of one day playing for Spurs (well some might but not many).

Porto to Chelsea was a move up for him. A move to Inter was really a sideways step in terms of quality, but he wanted a new challenge in a new League. A move to Real Madrid was a step up in terms of prestige, plus he has another new challenge in a new League.

A move to Spurs just doesn't add up after all that. You don't reach the top and then drop down a level unless you're not good enough to stay at the top anymore. It would be the equivalent of us signing C.Ronaldo before he gets old and shit.

The only challenge bigger than what he has had so far is the World Cup. Apparently he'll only do that with Portugal, but I think the FA have more chance of getting him than Daniel Levy does. Otherwise he'll just join another massive club.
