I've not really had a reaction to this game yet. I'm usually absolutely furious when we capitulate or concede a last minute equaliser/winner.

Anyone else had like a delayed rage? I'm starting to get really fucking annoyed about it now. I just can't believe what happened. Maybe it's just actual medical shock. Bloody hell.

Maybe I'll console myself by looking at WhatsApp messages from West Ham mates giving me shit. West Ham. Fucking hell.

Probably Emerson Royal. That is literally it
Crazy that this is actually true. Maaaaaybe Lenglet, although he's also pretty bloody slow and would probably struggle (plus we don't even own him).

Romero, Dier, Davies, Porro, Udogie, Spence, Sanchez, Tanganga and Perisic (who isn't even a defender) are all much more suited to playing in a back 3. We're gonna have a seriously painful transition trying to switch to a back 4 unless we make some very astute signings and the coach gets us very organised indeed.

It's almost like we were forming a team based on a magers prefered style. With a couple of better CBs and a creative midfielder we would have had a team that a real winner, like Conte, could manage. Our insistance that we play attacking football (me included) has really fucked us.

Davies can play back 4, although clearly he shouldn’t be considered first choice going forward.
Romero won the World Cup in a back 4 so surely could manage it.

It epitomises the mess we’re in. A number of wing backs signed for a manager that never stays anywhere for very long and was never going to stay without full backing which Levy was never going to give him.
So now do we insist on a coach that prefers back 3 (seriously limiting our options), do we hope the new guy can coach wing backs to be full backs or do we add Spence, Porro and Udogie to the long list of expensive collateral damage?

Listening to Trippier, Rose and Redknapp, they don’t seem to hold much fondness for the club, whether it’s the fans, the owner or just the whole thing
They have all got a chip on their shoulder.
Trip left because he fell out with Poch. He played in the 3rd place match in World Cup when suffering from groin injury, made it worse and came back injured for the new season. Said himself that he had to leave.
Done alright since but is now portrayed by the press as a world class full back when he is no different than he ever was.
Jamie likes to have a dig .never got over his dad getting sacked after finishing 4th. Or maybe he is sulk8ng cos he never gets the big games.
Danny sounds like he’s taken too many pills. How come no club wants him. Never played for 18 months.

This is a big reason why I think Nagelsmann would be huge for us. Attractive football but also flexible and has a history of using a back 3 effectively at Leipzig.

He's the best of both worlds.

I didn’t see the game as I was in Tampa with my son for a football (soccer here in the US) tournament. I was getting organized in the hotel when the game kicked off. I couldn’t believe what was unfolding in front of me, as the goal alerts kept hitting my phone. I have been a fan since 1974 and seen a lot of ups and downs and a lot of false dawns. Yesterday will rank right up there as one of the bleakest in many decades. And we all know that yesterday was a culmination of years of shit leadership, shit players etc etc. I’m not going to repeat what has already been said on here today. It’s all true BTW
My point is simple. My son plays U12 and they played 4 games in their tournament and won the final yesterday afternoon. These boys had heart, a desire to work for each other, a drive to succeed and eventually win the thing. You could see the togetherness of them and how they covered and encouraged each other on the pitch. They played as a unit and knew what they were doing. A joy to watch
Then you compare that to the other lot who get paid a kings ransom to ply their trade. This just wasn’t about yesterday. This has been the story for a number of years now. Players stealing a living at the expense of us, the fans and many who pay a lot of money to see this dross week in and week out. I’m not even sure if the majority of them woke up today giving a shit. Because if they did, it wouldn’t have happened in the first place.
My boy has a dream to play pro, like most young kids. The chances are extremely slim but I remind him of this. Looking at how a bulk of our clowns have forged a living and a career for many years, can if nothing else, but give hope to him, that through continued hard work and grit, maybe, just maybe, you might catch a break.
We need a complete overhaul from the top down. You have heard me say it before on here. New owners need to come in and clean this house and start again.

One thing is for sure we can't continue with Stellini we'll be talking cricket scores in the next two matches otherwise.

I really reeling from yesterday it's such a sense of deja vu to the times when we really bad in the past, just empty, angry and embarrassing. As it stands I can only see it getting worse.

The very fact that Emerson Royal's agent has jumped in tells you there is even more unrest behind the scenes and he's not world class either as mentioned.

Ending this season for a complete reset could come sooner however the removal of dead wood before the new season starts is another story because half of them remain in place time and time again.

Looked it up: Lloris, Dier, Kane and Son – all started. Davies would have started if fit :cautious:
What's the problem here? I presume we're all happy Kane and Son are still here?

Didn't see many moaning about Lloris getting a new deal although he is definitely done now.

Feels like a stick to beat Eric Dier with and I agree to an extent but Eric Dier isn't anywhere near our biggest problem and has offered plenty since then. Also the club has spent a fortune since then

The issue has been poor decision after poor decision and poor recruitment, not that we didn't sell every player from the Poch era.

I just got home after a 6.5 hour drive. I am still angry at everyone.
I’ve done that trip up to Newcastle. When you get into the ground the flights of stairs up is also gruelling and then you need a set of decent binoculars to view the match. Then you have to go down some more stairs to the bar at half time, back up for the second half. Lose the game, gruelling trip down the stairs, then a marathon journey home.
I salute all that travelled up yesterday and as said in a previous post, those players on X amount of cash per week should give every travelling fan compensation.

Yeah tbf the main reason none of the Newcastle players at all are still at the club is probably cos most of their squad was total wank and got relegated so the players with any value got sold.

I agree that Dier shouldn't still be knocking about and he's a damning indictment of our squad management but 2 world class forwards and a keeper is hardly a big deal

OMG John Terry, Peter Cech and Frank Lampard were in the same squad at Chelsea for over 10 years!! Total failure of squad management

Has there been any news on potential refunds for travelling fans.
Yes Levy (or Daniel as he now likes to be called) is offering 15% discount at the club shop for all over 80’s that attended Sunday’s fixture. *as long as accompanied by both parents

Our travelling fans are being reimbursed, which is something at least.

I think this is a good thing from the team shows that the defeat hurt them which shows they do care and do have some pride - think this defeat will instigate a reaction.

The thing is though, Ive always been against this kind of thing about reimbursement - where is the line, what is bad enough that a reimbursement is in order? I just think it is a risk when you go to games - games where you win 5-0 and games where you lose 5-0 (in this case 6-1) - although I did say at the time I felt so sorry for the travelling fans, they made that journey and it isnt a nice journey.
