Ange needs to take some or should I say a lot or responsibility for our decline in performances. As per those before him - Conte, Mourinho and now Ange, they’ve been during their time at Spurs, one trick ponies. It’s what separates them and the current top coaches/managers. Whether it be due to limitations of your squad or assessing the oppositions approach, the best coaches/managers adjust their approach. Whereas Ange doesn’t.
Look at Plymouth v Leicester last night. Leicester were clear favourites and expected to stroll to victory but Plymouth defended both deep and as a team, nullifying Leicester of any space and then hit them on the counter, picking up an invaluable 3 points.
Newcastle’s biggest strength is both their strength and frightening pace up top… has Ange done anything to mitigate this? Nope, same suicidal high line and leaving us 2 v 2 / 2 v 3.
Newcastle’s weakness is their defence… have we looked to expose this? not really. Have we looked to test their 2nd choice keeper? Nope, still trying to walk the ball in.
