Can we move Bale back to LB pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease? Pretty please?

Pav/Defoe
VDV
Modric Palacios Jenas Lennon
Bale Gallas Dawson Hutton
Gomes

That team would be immense. For fucks sake we need to reinstate the balance and tighten it up a bit!!

Cue the shit storm head my way
I wouldn't mind that being the team at all.

Every year we have a run of winnable looking fixtures over Christmas and then we mess it up. Plus we do no better with winnable games than with tough ones. Let's fight for every point and hope for the best.

What have you done to my thread!!!

You nearly got me to post a huge boring response to this...BUT...I wouldn't mind seeing what that team could do, although I would like to see the Hudd in beside Palacios....well of course I would!

9 points.

I'd be very very surprised if we got 13 points.

I wont be surprised as such...considering we have just taken 11 points from our last 5 - which look a lot tougher:

Blackburn
Arsenal
Liverpool
Birmingham
Chelsea

None of the teams we are due to face are in the top 7...albeit the League is tight.

I'd have Hudd ahead of Jenas in that line-up but he's out long=term so didnt include him. Jenas should be back soon no? If not then Sandro goes in. Just need to be solid down the middle.

Yeah fair point, JJ should be back soon enough I would of thought.

The snow is due back on Thursday, whats the bets are game with Blackpool will be off...could be a blessing in disguise given our injury problems and hectic schedule recently.

I just think our soft Spurs will kick in.

We raise our game for big opponents. Less fashionable games, the manager and some of the more flakey players can drop their concentration levels.

Also, some of the Spicey players can get caught up in the Xmas spirit if you know what I mean? Remember last year afer Dublingate? We threw away a nailed on three points after that incident.

If we do get the OP's prediction, it will be a bold new era for Spurs and ole Gibbsy will be fkn amazed and delighted.

On paper I agree with the OP. In reality, I see less rosy trends.

One thing that really may be a help which I previously thought was a hindrance is our really deep squad. I thought so many players may dilute the fitness and training. But with all of these injuries we may have an ideal situation.

Because of injuries we probably have an average Prem squad to work with, while the others will be feeling the pace by now.

My point is while others are going to have injuries to their best players in Jan, we will have people like King and VDV coming in and giving us an extra kick.

FYP:wink:

Actually, amidst all of the disappointment of not putting a wobbling Chelsea team to bed in the first half, yesterday, and then gifting them an equaliser in the second (albeit a half they had the bulk of), some folk seem to have failed to spot an interesting little statistic.

We now have a 7 game unbeaten run:dance:

Now, imagine this...we DO go unbeaten in the next five games, picking up a minimum of 11 points, we have a number of our significant absentees back, and we have our shiny new striker at last. And then United at the Lane. Immense.

An optimistic Spurs fan worth their weight in gold (or printer ink; which is apparently the world's most expensive liquid LOL)

Blackpool look ready made for our style, they attack all game and won't set out to stop us, i see 3pts.

Villa, more worried about them, players returning...they are bound to fuck up my boxing day..i don't have a good feeling about this game.

Newcastle..again this is tougher than we may think, barton is a tool, but don't underestimate how good he is...if we stop him and carrol we can win...thats the key.3pts

Everton...they are a good side in a poor run....again a team that can cause us problems, a draw wouldn't be that bad.

Fulham...this one imo, will be a comfortable victory, i can see us beating them by 3 at the lane.

so i can see us getting 10 from 15...not great but not bad either. i would take it.

Apols if this has been said but I've only read page 1......we're unbeaten in 7 in all competitions. Anybody know what our longest all-comps unbeaten stretch is since the start of the Prem. Do I remember us doing 10 or 11 under Jol ? I would think we're fast approaching our record and it's coincided with a number of fightbacks.

Yes we need 4 wins out of these games and it would be nice to go into the Manc game unbeaten in 13 and feeling very difficult to beat - though they'll have paid the ref again so it won't ultimately make a difference

From our next 5 games Blackpool away and Newcastle at home worry me the most but are win-able games hope we can improve our clean sheet record that for me is the key in us challenging for a CL spot.

Excellent ghibberish! The depth of our squad is a hindrance? So many players dilute fitness and training?? And then: "with all these injuries we may have an ideal situation"!??!?!??

I can't wait for Redknapp to put our good form, god willing, down to our squad's injuries. Clearly Redknapp has much to learn.

Everton have a terrible home record this season, although a lot can change in five games. Modric was recently talking about the need to take the points from these games. A few goals from our strikers this weekend to get their confidence up and I think we can get most of the points from these games. Would like to see Dawson and Gallas at CB. Although our CBs have all played fairly well, we're conceding because the partnerships and balance hasn't been there. We've not been able to play the classic big strong Dawson/Kaboul with the fast intelligent Gallas/King often enough for them to know their roles. Hope as the injury crisis (hopefully) clears we'll have a more stable back line.

Kranj is a prime example. How fat and rusty he was when he came back? Now he wants to leave. Was he tip top Kranj from fitness and training?

No. Why? Because he had 2 players ahead of him in the pecking order. Just because we have a deep squad, does not mean they are going to come on and be Prem level from kicking their heels on the sidelines for months on end.

Do you think HR wakes up in a cold sweat worrying about Stipe
Pletikosa's fitness?

We have a list of capable players that have ground down to shadows of their former selves due to lack of games. Keano, Bentley etc etc.

Look at how bad Hutton was when he first came back from his big injury, look at how crazy Palacios was until he had a few games under his belt.

Not all players are like King and VDV when they come back from injury and have instant impact. Some can cost you points.

You can watch Spurs players like the two Kyles and think "why did we sign them?". The truth is, they are better than we think they are because they have no real competitive games under their belts before they are thrown to the wolves.

May have already been mentioned elsewhere on this site but surely with a cold front coming in again Thursday onwards, and Blackpool's lack of undersoil heating, then surely our game on Sunday must be slightly in doubt already???

Hope not, should be an absolute snorter, with us winning by the odd goal in 5.

If the weather forecast is right then it almost certainly will be cancelled. The forecast is snow Thurs, Fri, Sat - max temp Zero on Saturday

Yes it might help to postpone to a time when we have less injuries but at least we have a 1 week break now - we could find it pops up on a cold Weds in Feb when our Saturday opponents are one of the big 4/5. Sod's law

They already have to play a re-arranged ManUre game so we could be really shafted

I just pray the game is on, I don't think I could handle a weekend where everyone else plays but us, it'd be bloody awful.
