Likewise, if the chief scout won't accept anything but being the DoF but doesn't have the right skill set or likely to alienate others then Munn has to open the door and say good luck to you
I'd imagine this is probably close to the truth? They saw him as an excellent chief scout, where rubbing people up the wrong way doesn't matter so much, but as a DOF who has to negotiate and do deals they probably didn't think his personality would work and he couldn't see/accept that?

Ali Gold said on the podcast this week that when the next DOF comes in, it will be time for Paritici to completely depart from the club altogether without any “consulting” role even so that he wouldn’t be a distraction. Does this definitely have to be the case or what are some thoughts on this?

I guess that it really depends on who this new DoF is and what their skillset is. Perhaps it would be a case of 'too many cooks' to keep him on. Wasn't there also talk that his approach/mindset isn't in keeping with the 'data driven' approach that the club has (belatedly) adopted?

While he is still banned and not actively working for any other club, I would hope if FP discovered another gem in Serie A he would give Daniel a friendly headstart on the opposition.

I don’t see a way Paratici could stay working in any capacity once the new DoF is in place. We need to put our faith into whoever it is that gets the role and keeping Paratici on the side could undermine the boards relationship with the new incumbent. It’s a shame but it will be better to cut ties completely and let the new man take over fully without other voices confusing things.

I was kinda against Paratici working for us since the penalisation. But if he's working for us BTS as a consultancy role, I can't deny that he has continued to deliver with the work being done in the last window and I applaud him greatly for that.

One thing I do miss about him is his passion for us while watching the game together with the players and lads from the bench. The togetherness of the squad/club couldn't be further underlined if we have someone of such position screaming and celebrating at field level on matchday. I think most of us really like that.

The club 'stood by him' rather than drop him like a bad habit, when there were allegations. Even after that, keeping money in his pocket as a consultant. I'm sure he has and will have a good relationship with DL in the future.

But if we're upgrading scouting and player identification with a data driven approach, he may be needed less. But there's always a good player somewhere that's under the radar.

Luckily for us, if the new DOF/head of recruitment/head scout aren't serving up the right players then we now have an excellent final filter in Ange, suspect character = not happening, doesn't fit the system = not happening.

We have to get it right. When Poch took over he seemed to come in after a good spell of signings. We maybe didn't know how good it had been at the time. It turned out to be a golden period with a lot of young prospects who thrived under him. This last few years has kind of felt like that. Back then we got Mitchell for a while and made a couple more quality signings. It was really after he left it went apart. So we just need that continuity this time so the squad doesn't dry up in a few years time. If this DOF doesn't work out we need another. Our transfer policy always lacks structure without one. I'm hoping the fact we have our manager will help get the right fit for him.

Looking at our team yesterday one can’t help but think if we could just bring in a few more young players of the calibre of VDV, Udogie, Sarr etc to fill out the squad we could really grow into quite the force over the next few years.

With the right DoF i don’t think it would necessarily even need to take that many windows to get there ether. I just really hope we get this appointment right.

Absolutely agreed. We somehow have managed to put a really strong foundation in place, and we really just need to start putting the finishing touches on the squad with some high quality signings that can push our starters. For me, those positions are LB, CB, attacking midfielder and a versatile forward.

Spend on quality in those positions, while constantly seeking the Veliz, Sarr, Udogie, Vuskovič and Phillips type deals and I feel like we are going to be in a really good place. Ange seems to just get it, too, and I see him likely pushing that to whoever takes over, as well.
