My mrs is a massive United fan so I've had the chance to watch a lot of Jose during his United spell. I do not want him here end of. Yes he wins trophies but he's also all about himself and only gives a shit about Jose Mourinho. On top of that the absolute dross a Mourinho side performs on the pitch is not for me

Think for a minute.

Mourinho has almost unlimited resources at United and won second rate trophies.
He will not have those resources at spurs. Is he likely to do as well?

Mourinho could not have taken us from where Poch did 5 years ago.

we are a different club from 5 years ago. We need a manager to take us over the line. Is Poch that man? I very much doubt it. Could Mourinho be that man? History would suggest it’s possible, if we could get him, would it not be worth the risk?

The thing that annoys me about this Jose/he needs money debate.

Jose wouldn't need mega sums of money. We are only 2 or 3 players away from being a top side. We just currently have no set way of playing, no best 11 in the managers eyes and no way of changing a game.

4 wins in 14 is unacceptable whatever way you slice it.

as opposed to the dross we’ve been watching for a year

In addition, people who think he was backed and/or had lots of money to spend weren't paying attention. He had a crap squad, same as Solksjaer is dealing with.

I agree that Mourinho couldn’t have done what Poch did but the situation is not comparable at all to how it was 5 years ago. Poch was 100% the right man then, I said as much. But maybe, just maybe he might not be the man to take us past this point. This is now an extremely high quality squad and there are not many gaping weaknesses.

Yeh I don’t disagree with any of that.

I think the first half of this season was always going to be tough because of the fixtures. We play every team you think might finish in the top half AWAY from home in the first half of the season, except Chelsea. Rest of top 6 and your Wolves, Leicesters and Everton’s etc.

Clearly this means we needed to clean up the easy home fixtures and we haven’t done that. That is been our downfall so far. Bayern result made that more dramatic but we’ll probably qualify for next round.

We need to take advantage of a poor Everton side and keep ourselves within ten points of top 4 by xmas and I would back us to have a strong end to season.

I don’t know if Poch is the right man. I hope he is so much because I love him. Levy has an unenviable decision to make ..

Poch is 2/1 the next manager to be sacked. Silva is 5/2

That's pretty good going to be ahead of him.

Oh no, I've had a terrible thought. Roberto Martinez. We've interviewed him before haven't we!

Watch Arsenal hire Mourinho, calling it right now. That’s a scary prospect.

We need to be quick.

We could be just the right challenge for Mourinho after his time out from football. We have arguably a better squad than the one he inherited at United, and the expectations are lower (any trophy and he could - and no doubt would - argue that he’s been more successful than Poch). He’s had a breather from football management now and he might be in the right state of mind to go back to basics. At the very least, he could put the egos in the squad back in their place in a way that Poch can’t.

Or it could be a disaster.

I’m game for giving it a go though, if he thinks he’s up for it.
