Conte wants him. He’s a talent that needs a new lease of life. Has a profile that would slot into our system. Only 23 so plenty of upside and keeps the club happy with their remit for signing players. Ticks a lot of boxes.

Yeh and he will come here which is a plus . It’s just one of those deals where the door opens late on. It’s about buying the right players not just anyone which has caused the issue with have with the squad

The fact Conte still wants him as top pick says a lot. I get why people are apprehensive but two windows in a row he’s been who he wants, that to me speaks volumes and quash any concerns the fans have.

I posted a few days ago that this is one of those deals where brinkmanship would actually make sense (financially) because of his contract. Glad I was on the money! ?. Makes complete sense.
Arsenal are showing a form of interest but that backdates however our ties favour us if it became a head to head I would hope . Conte has asked

Don't understand why the door opens late on

Arsenal is an interesting one. I’m assuming they would go for someone else now they lost Mudryk. I’ve seen Raphinha’s name mentioned. Would never have guessed at Zaniolo for them. But it kind of makes sense now you mention it.

Contract, he’s not going to sign a new one as Roma aren’t offering him what he wants and he’s only got a year and half left. Roma aren’t flush and they know they will loose money holding on to him.

Add to that he doesn’t really fit tactically in a team with Dybala and is in a poor run of form. Selling him now makes a lot of sense for Roma but for us, going in at the end of the window should give us the best deal possible. It’s a gamble but makes sense.

Still don’t see why they have any motivation to sell in January vs this summer unless we pay way over the odds.

I hope we know for a fact that they are willing to sell or this is going to be the exact same as the last three windows with this guy.

Lloris

Kulusevski
Son
Kane

Forster
Doherty
Sanchez
Tanganga
Davies
Sessegnon

Skipp
Zaniolo
Gil
Richarlison

Not a bad looking amount of 23 man squad depth that. I'd pull the trigger on a talent like Zaniolo, much rather this than Trossard

The only thing about Zaniolo is where it leaves Gil. Now obviously he’s still to raw to be relied on, but I also feel like he shouldn’t be written off yet and if Zaniolo came in he would essentially be 3rd choice for as long as he’s here.

I think the state of our bench with Richy and Deki missing shows he’d get some minutes still. Atm with Lucas pretty much finished with the club we’re only ever one injury up top away from being threadbare.

It really is a minor concern, and obviously I wouldn’t want that to get in the way of bringing in another quality attacker. Just more that part of me thinks that we should be focusing on succession plan for Son (ie right footed LWF) and leave Gil as Kulu’s understudy. But, as I’ve said all along. Conte clearly loves Zaniolo and that’s more than enough for me to really want him here.
