Yea, could see why City would let him go after signing Rodwell for that role of backup midfielder with potential.

Looks good on that video but then again it is a youtube HIGHLIGHTS reel. If the deal is cheap then sure why not I guess.

Looks a bit one-paced, but so was Zidane. In fact he was a bit Zidane-esque in his dribbling skill; but can he do it in the Premiere League? No harm for a 2-3 million gamble.
I agree maybe worth a low cost punt.

Strange how some are ready to spend £1-3M of Spurs money on a player who they've only seen on youtube. I remember even Raziak was looking like a world beater on youtube once upon a time. And why aren't Citeh keen on him if he's that good?

Nir Biton's club boss has confirmed Tottenham are considering a bid for the Israeli midfielder, but claimed Manchester City may yet revive their interest in him.

Sportsmail revealed Tottenham’s surprise approach for Biton, and FC Ashdod owner Jacky Ben-Zaken reacted by admitting the 20-year old was training with them, with a view to completing a move to White Hart Lane.

It is understood top agent Pini Zahavi flew over to London with Biton and that talks are underway about adding the energetic midfielder to Andre Villas-Boas' squad.

'It is not a case of Nir being on trial,' said Ben-Zaken. 'He is training with Tottenham and having a look at them, and we will see what develops. But he also did well at City, when he spent time with them, and they are still a possibility.'
The player who has been likened to former Arsenal favourite Patrick Vieira for his midfield athleticism.

Villas-Boas is more concerned about landing a suitable replacement for Real Madrid-bound Luka Modric but sees 20-year old Biton as a useful back-up who would strengthen his central midfield options.
Everton and Aston Villa have also expressed an interest in the past.

I'm not going to say that we should buy him based only on watching YouTube compilations but there are good reasons why City haven't followed up on their interest despite him impressing there. Basically they are overloaded with players of Nir Biton's type in their squad and don't need him. Apart from Ya Ya who is always going to start they have De Jong & Barry, and Rodwell & Rasak as promising youngsters. We on the other hand have Sandro, Parker, Livermore and debatedly Huddlestone and Jenas. Kaboul could probably play there as well but is needed in defence.

With Parker injured (and aging), Thudd & Jenas likely to be shipped out, we are left with only Sandro and the (IMHO limited) Livermore as DMs. AVB obviously thinks we need another DM (thus our interest in M'Vila) so it makes sense to consider a relatively cheap option like Biton. Maybe he won't work out but at only 20 he has time and we may end up with another Fellaini at a bargain price.

Well the guy is training with us apparently, so if the coaches see something they like when comparing him first-hand to what we already have and decide offer him a deal then who are we to argue?

If AVB's system emplys two midfield powerhouses alongside a more cultuyred option, we have Parker, Sandro and Livermore as the 'seek and destroy' merchants, with vdvd and Sigurdsson as the cutting edge. Won't hurt to have another option for wach, just for depth, and since I don't imagine this guy being too expensive, worth a punt, maybe we can pick up an unheralded player that goes on to be a dimaond, as Wigan seem to do with the likes of Palacios, Figueroa, Valencia etc.
I'm not saying we should compare ourselves to them, but it would be good to pick up a few cheap projects that pay off for a change, rather than have to haggle down the price on someone nearer the finished article. I guess the new training facility, and the fact that AVB's coaching setup's experience is mainly on youth football (Freund, Luis), could be a sign we are going to pay more attention to these types of players. Whilst we cannot compete with the top tier in terms of signing players, recruiting smartly, coaching the players and promoting from within, should see us bridge the gap until the stadium is complete and we are CL regulars, giving us more pull.
