Just as interesting that they have won 3 FA Cups and 3 Community Shields in that period then, with our cabinet bare.

The worst Arsenal team in a generation was still more successful than the best Tottenham team in a generation. Let that sink in.

Community shield is a glorified friendly

It’s a charity cup , we used to play in them and share them after a draw . We do not count them as trophies and never will

I get the sentiment, but when we laugh about winning the Audi cup because our cupboard is so bare.
Frankly I don't care for the League or FA Cup, but jeez, lets win something rather than rejoice at beating Arsenal to 7th in the league

Agreed. Scratch the league cup, though. I rank annual CL participation over the reindeer cup.

In the short-term they may come out on top, or perhaps we will.

But our future looks better than theirs, regardless of cups and european qualification.

Oh we certainly used to, and 100,000 people that turned up every year certainly did, but then I suppose not having been in one for 29 years, as to be in it you actually needed to have actually won something, does take the shine off these things.

For us to lose that Europa league spot, it will take:-

1. Chelscum to lose to Wolves, which they shouldn't, considering they need to fight tooth and nail to get that CL spot
2. Spurs to lose to Palace, which we shouldn't, considering Palace are in an awful place right now, having lost their 7 last games in a row
3. Arse to win the FA Cup, which they shouldn't, considering their awful season

You know what that means, dont you? Even when we least expect it to happen, or when the odds are so small, it can still happen if the receiving end is Spurs.

I fear another 2012.

Wonder what the odds are for all that to happen?

I'd be more embarrassed to count the Community Shield as a trophy than to not actually win any.

You can get in it without winning something can't you - isn't it the runner up of something else if some team does the double?

Champions League qualification beats domestic trophies
They haven't been more successful than us in that time

Success for me is

1. Premier League title, Champions League winner, Europa League winner because they all equal Champions League qualification along with silverware (unless you win Europe but get relegated which is unlikely)
2. Top 4 which equals Champions League qualification but no silverware
3. FA Cup or League Cup which equals Europa League qualification with silverware
4. 5th, 6th, possibly 7th which equals Europa League qualification with no silverware
5. Community Shield which equals no European qualification with minor silverware

So if Arsenal win the FA Cup then they'll have had a more successful season than us for the first time since the 15/16 season. That season they finished 2nd and we finished 3rd but they won the Community Shield so very minor if at all. The season before was really the last time they had true success over us with Champions League qualification to our Europa League and they won the FA Cup with Community Shield.

We have nothing to celebrate and they might so lets at least wait until they hopefully lose the final so Chelsea fans can mug us off instead.

From memory I can tell you a lot about the trophies we won. Having spent my childhood reading such things

League 2 times (51, 61)
FA cup 8 times (1901 or 1906 ?, 1921, 1961, 1962, 1967, 1981, 1982, 1991)
Uefa cup 2 times (1972 (?), 1984)
Cup winners cup (1963 ?)
League cup 3 or 4.. (1971 (?), 1999, 2008)
Charity Shield ??????????

I don't think anyone really cares. Substitutions work like in friendlies too. The Charity shield has always been a glorified preseason friendly aimed to kickstart the season. That's all it is.

Don’t give a fk about them just care about when I watch spurs we play in a way that you feel proud of.

Im not even bothered by that tbh. I just want us to win games and trophy’s. Happily take boring or “anti football” right now if it reaps the right results. Being picky over the entertainment style is something that can come later.

I have seen everything we have won except 1901 and 1921 cups . We won with style 51 and 61 league / 62 and 67 and 81 cup and 63 CWC
So I make that six trophies won with style and eleven that were not so good a few of them we were downright lucky I could name the teams we played and which club but I am sure you know the games I mean . The fact is one of our best performances we lost that was against Coventry so sad as that team was brilliant but about to be broken up because of that scoundrel Scholour calling him a scoundrel is being kind . But the point I want to make is about those who spout on about the " Tottenham way " and it is a myth .
Never the less its always a privilege to support this great club and what I cherish most is remembering certain games off the top of my head
Gornik champions league / Rangers CWC / Arsenal cup S/F /Inter Milan Champions league / Ajax / you get my point and that is Danny
Blanchflower was right all those years ago that the game is about glory .
The many finals we have been in mostly are forgettable but certain games are imprinted in my mind forever and I will never forget them .
There have been many more but I name a few to give an idea where I am coming from .
