Tottenham will continue their attempt to remain on the tails of the two Manchester clubs in the Premier League title race when they travel to Norwich on Tuesday.

Harry Redknapp's side drew 1-1 with London derby rivals Chelsea

on Thursday in the top flight's last match before Christmas to ensure they remained third in the table with a game in hand.

But Tottenham trail league pacesetters Manchester City by nine points and second-placed Manchester United hold a seven-point lead.

Redknapp said after the draw with Chelsea that it was important to maintain momentum in a run which has seen Spurs win 11 of their last 14 league matches.

But Norwich will pose difficult opposition after a three-game unbeaten run since their thrashing at Manchester City and Paul Lambert's side have won four of their home fixtures since returning to the Premier League.

That is a better record than the likes of Liverpool, Everton and Aston Villa to provide last season's Championship runners-up with more than enough confidence to take on Tottenham.
Arrangement

Ninth-placed Norwich, who dramatically drew at Wolves last Tuesday, will also be encouraged by the ongoing form of Grant Holt after the striker's three goals in his last four matches.

Defender Ritchie de Laet was set to return to training this week, but he was not involved in the trip to Wolves.

Kyle Naughton is suspended, but would not have featured against his parent club, Tottenham, regardless due to an arrangement in his loan
James Vaughan and Elliott Ward also both missed the match at Molineux as they are both sidelined with knee injuries.

Tottenham forward Rafael van der Vaart is likely to miss the match after suffering a hamstring injury the draw with Chelsea.

Spurs will give tests to Jermain Defoe and Younes Kaboul (both hamstring) before deciding whether they will play any part in the clash at Carrow Road.

Ledley King is unlikely to play having completed two games in five days, while Aaron Lennon (hamstring), Michael Dawson (Achilles) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) are out.

Norwich defender Kyle Naughton is suspended but would have missed the match anyway against his parent club.

Another on-loan defender, Ritchie de Laet, could return but Elliott Ward and James Vaughan remain out.

Tottenham's Rafael van der Vaart could play after a scan revealed he had not suffered a hamstring tear.

Jermain Defoe and Younes Kaboul also have hamstring problems and will have fitness tests, while Ledley King could be rested.

Both Norwich manager Paul Lambert and Tottenham counterpart Harry Redknapp must be full of festive cheer given how well their respective sides have performed so far this season.

Norwich have been this season's Blackpool, entertaining neutrals on their return to the top flight with some thrilling, goal-laden matches. Lambert can have few complaints with the way his team have adapted to the Premier League, but one thing on his Christmas wish list would be a first clean sheet of the season.

At this stage last season Blackpool sat eighth and had 25 points, four more than Norwich do, but their chronic inability to keep the goals out led to their demise. Lambert will need to add some solidity if he wants to avoid a similar fate befalling his side.

Tottenham are the highest-ranked London team at Christmas for the first time since 1995, although the mood at White Hart Lane has been dampened slightly by a mounting injury crisis that will give the depth of their squad its first real test this season.
A draw with Chelsea wasn't an ideal result, but after suffering defeats in their opening two games of the season Redknapp must be thrilled that his side are being talked of as title contenders.

Head-to-head

  • Norwich have only won once in their last 10 league matches against Tottenham: 3-1 at White Hart Lane on 27 December 1993. Chris Sutton (2) and Efan Ekoku scored for Norwich.
  • Spurs are unbeaten in their four previous visits to Carrow Road in the Premier League.
Norwich

  • Norwich are unbeaten in their last three league games. They last went four games unbeaten in the top flight in April 2005.
  • The Canaries have scored 11 headed goals in the Premier League this season, four more than any other side prior to Boxing Day.
  • They and Blackburn Rovers are the only clubs yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
Tottenham

  • Tottenham have failed to win in their last 12 top-flight matches on December 27 since a 1-0 win over Sheffield United in 1965.
  • They have only lost one of their last 14 league matches.
  • Emmanuel Adebayor has scored six goals in his last six league appearances for Tottenham.
  • Jermain Defoe has scored more goals (18) as a substitute than any other Premier League player.

I will be there tomorrow. Usiny my grandads season ticket so sitting in the norwich end.

City are a good side. Morrison and Holt will cause us problems in the air. 2-1 either way tomorrow.

We will win 0 - 2. Win the next three games and I'll really believe we are in the title race. COYS!

I'm hoping Kaboul makes it to negate that threat. They're a good side but they do concede plenty so I could see us out scoring them in a very entertaining 3-2 win

Norwich will definately go into the match thinking they can get something out of us which hopefully will play into our hands as I think their defence is rather suspect.

Hopefully they start Holt on the bench, which isn't out of the ordinary, as I could see him causing our defence problems as I'm sure he will look to lean more on Gallas than Kaboul.

I think this will be a toughie. 3 points there would be a very good result.

Most definitely - this Is the time of year where you just have to get through the games and hopefully come out the other side with a decent points haul and with any luck, no further injuries.

I don't care how we perform in our next two away games as long as we come away with 4-6 points.

Norwich v Tottenham (7.15pm, Tue, Sky Sports HD1)
PAUL PREDICTS: 2-3

Norwich have been outstanding this season. They've had a real go in every game, a la Blackpool, but they're much better than Ian Holloway's men were at the back; they get men behind the ball and break at the right time. They were bang unlucky at Wolves in the first half but by the end they could have lost the game and they did well to hold on for a draw, a point that could prove crucial at the end of the season. They'll give Tottenham a game. Spurs were brilliant in the first 20 minutes against Chelsea and you thought they were going to win by a cricket score, but they fell away a bit in the second half. When either of their wingers, Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale, are missing, they aren't the same team. Tottenham have no-one to replace them, while Man City have about 18 replacements if one of their star men gets injured. That's why I can't see Tottenham winning the league.

I don't see how it is possible that Naughton can serve his suspension for a game that he is isn't allowed to play in.

Very hard game this, and that's not playing it down. Whatever anyone says about Norwich playing good football, for me there still more of a percentage team, so i'm expecting a lot of balls in the box. We struggle to cope with that at times and Grant Holt is normally the type of player who scores against us. A strong ref please.

I don't expect Norwich to keep their good form for much longer and it will drop soon enough, as a is usually the case with newly promoted sides (Blackpool, Hull etc), but I'm not convinced their form will drop tonight. They surely have a few good games left in them and we will have to bring it. While not a massive fixture on paper it feels like a massive game nonetheless.

I would have thought the agreement between the loaner and the receiving club is between them and does not affect EPL availability....so this game counts for a ban even though he was never gonna play in it:shrug:

no - they changed that years ago (i only know as Wenger has been Wengering about it recently). The clubs no longer have a choice, loanee's can not play against loaners..

Ten of Norwich's 26 goals have been scored fron set pieces, we need Kaboom for this one.
Nice timing by Norwich if Naughton is suspended for a game he cant play in?
